Federer's best tennis ever
I am starting to miss tennis. Especially those matches where Fed was supreme. Looking at this below clip, it is to me probably his best tennis ever. Very simply for 2 reasons:
- He has the power power and consistency from both wings
- He has perfect timing.
Those 2 combinations makes him free to shorten the rallies and simply dictate. Something he was never able to do with his smaller racquet frame. he plays Nadal there in his semi or final and must be a tired man at 35 or 36. Yet he can save all the energy in the world and could have played 5 sets like that so little energy it requires when he is in that kind of mood.
Nadal is in my view the player that challenged him most in his younger years simply because he had to get used to that spin (remember Fed learnt and trained in the carpet era against very different players). In this match he simply shows Nadal has no more secret nor challenge to his game.
It s absolute destruction.

It was brutal. I kept hoping he could keep it up to the end but then wanted another set.
Funny to think that since he came off against Raonic at Wimbledon 2016 and went to get the knee fixed he has only lost to Nadal once, on that terrible blustery day at Roland Garros.

Yes. More precisely since he adopted that 97inch racquet in 2014. Je lost in Jan 14 to Nadal at the AO but that was probably one of his first matches with the racquet. Since then...it's been pretty one sided. And this is why I think Fed would have had a chance at the FO.

Federer Highest paid athlete in 2020!
earning $85million of his total $86.5M with sponsors. Just shows that at this level price money is just to cover expenses.

Oops, started a thread before seeing this.
I think Federer will be in the top 10 athletes earnings up to 10 years after he isn’t playing. His deals are insane.

Free market is always fair, it’s when the riggers get involved it gets nasty.
