I thought you would be celebrating the beautiful symmetry of 20-20 in the year 2020

Re: Slam chase
Also I did not think Nadal would equalise the slam count.
I think the only person on this forum who predicted it was NITB actually (altho she reckoned that djokovic would overtake them both which is still possible).

Re: Slam chase
Does it matter whether it was defeated in Slams final or in earlier slams final?
But the real thing that matters to me is that Federer is from another generation and manage to beat Nadal and Djokovic with a 90in racquet and that neither Nadal or Djokovic would have been able to beat Federer with such a racquet. It took Federer a long time to change racquet but that is not entirely his fault.

Re: Slam chase
agree, it is incredible how Federer was able to keep his success even when these younger guys appeared 5 and 6 younger than him. And it is not fair to compare them or study their H2H without taking into consideration this difference in age.

Federer is still very much in this slam chase, he definitely has a shot at at least Wimbledon next year.

I really don't think so. Federer is simply too old now. And that is me saying it...you know the guy who always said players don;t peak at 26....but actually later. But it is obvious now that Federer cannot play his best at the business end of a slam. Neither can Djoko and Nadal as a matter of fact. Who they play before getting to the final is detrimental for the outcome of that final.

Re: Slam chase
He nearly won Wimbledon last year, why would he not be in contention for it next year? Premature assumption.

Also slam chase doesn't mean shit when they're all played on slow courts.

Re: Slam chase
Djokovic is a big threat, Nadal probably not; and then it's not like any of the next generation are that good on grass?Daniel2 wrote:Federer also has competition on grass lol
In fact out of the under 30's, the strongest player is probably Thiem, whose best surface is clay.
I've never seen Thiem, Zverev, Medvedev, Tsitsipas etc. ever look that good on grass.
Federer does have a shot at Wimbledon this year, I believe it. Djokovic, since Wimb2019, keeps hyping himself up to the media talking about how he's ready and determined to overtake Federer's records. However, this may inadvertently lead to him putting more pressure on himself and backfiring.
For example: 1. USO DQ. 2. Ahead of the RG final, Nole said he was confident due to the conditions, and his coach said Nadal had no chance. Then, after Nadal blitzed him in the first few games, Nole looked frightened and confused.
I can see that possibly repeating in Wimbledon final. Djokovic initially too cocky, Federer turns up in style, Djokovic mentally panics, Federer wins.

Re: Slam chase
are you sure he won 7 Wimbledon?
And he certainly did not choose Not to play....he is simply not allowed cause he chose not be vaxed.
Nadal is such a lucky boy.

A cheat! laughing nervously after trying to intimidate the journalist.
The only reason I am keeping this forum open is that one day hopefully we will return to discuss his official cheating positive tests.

Djokovic knew he was Covid positive but interacted in close proximity to many children, their parents; and also an elderly French journalist the next day.
Psychopathic behaviour that could damage people far more than taking 28 seconds rather than 25 seconds between points.

Re: Slam chase
Just saw this:
https://twitter.com/SerbsInSports/status/1544740408516829184
There is a whole list of Nadal raising his hand to disturb the server on big moments, he tried it last night as well.
I remember him doing it all the time but never put two and two together...Serena was the same.
It's not enough that his biggest rival is not allowed to compete, that his draws are handpicked by himself, that the umpires are mortified to call him out on time violation etc etc....what a shameless slimeball.
About to become a father, too.
I remember gallery play once mentioning the obvious which rang so true: that he couldn't decide whether he enjoyed more Nadal losing or Federer winning.
Anyway, I am glad he is out.
Another one of those lovely mornings.
p.s.
apparently he even had the cheek to say in his last night's presser that he could have won Wimbledon this year had he not been injured!

Fans are fans! Amri and the others will simply never want to see it. Their man is more important than tennis and its rules.
But clearly Nadal is a cheat helped by the ATP cause he brings money to the sport. Nothing new here.
The change of ball size at the USO in 2010 is another huge help to allow him to rival the better players.

Re: Slam chase
He's a detestable creature. A plain and simple cheat and also has NPD. It's clear as day he has NPD. He's cheated Federer out of at least 2 slams with time outs - many more matches with Fed and with others by time wasting. He gets away with it because he's a big name - and he's also possibly a drug cheat to go with it. He's admitted to blood letting and stem therapy - which already is enough.
And I've only scratched the surface. Can we all still remember him calling for hawkeye on tournament point v fed when he knew it was on the line.
Having all the surfaces cater to your style of play isn't enough for this guy. The tournament organizers are doing everything for him - even banning Djok from 2 slams this year lol. Covid hahahaha biggest overreaction in history and those vaccine deaths are mounting.
Luckily, his career is almost over and we can finally enjoy a slam without Djok and Nadal and their boring uncreative baseline rallying.

Noleisthebest, you're a bit of a glory hunter I'm afraid.
You were a Djokovic fan, but then switched to Federer a few years ago, only to switch back to Djokovic!!
And then when Djokovic beat Federer in W2019, you gloated and rubbed it in the faces of Fed fans- meanwhile I did not do the same when Nadal overtook Federer's slam tally.

It actually is. If you could take his dick out of your ass you'd see why it's so spiteful and why it's indicative of his general personality --- as in NPD.

I've met him in real life away from the tennis court- he's a really nice guy, very polite and said thank you every time me or anyone else picked up a ball during his practice sessions.Daniel2 wrote:N2D2L wrote:Disgraceful stuffDaniel2 wrote:Can we all still remember him calling for hawkeye on tournament point v fed when he knew it was on the line.

Some celebrities look good on camera etc.- but surely it's what you do behind the scenes that's more indicative of how you really are as a person.
