Who Is Going To Win?
Re: USO 2015: The Finale
It doesn't help that Djokovic is playing his best tennis today either. That doesn't help at all.

Federer is indecisive whether he should get forward or back. Novak very mobile and doing what he always does.

FK - Do you admit that Djoko is a better player now than he was in the past? I definitely do.
I feel Feds is more inconsistent but when he puts it together (ala Murray sf wimby) he is better than ever but has more off days now.

Depends what year you mean. The thing is, 04-07 Federer would have trounced him here. He's 34 for Christ's sake. What do you think Novak will be doing at 34 aside from claiming a pension?

His backhand and forehand shots are eclipsing current Federer's. Â For sure. And then we throw in the 1st serve %.

Andy doesn't take time away from Federer like Djokovic does. He is a better player than he was only a fool would say otherwise.luvsports! wrote:FK - Do you admit that Djoko is a better player now than he was in the past? I definitely do.

he is not hitting the ball that hard, he is using Fed's pace.noleisthebest wrote:Yes, but did you see now hard he is striking the ball, Federer is facing Nadal on both wings now.Tenez wrote:It's very simple. Because Djoko moves so quickly, he has time to decide where to send teh ball and therefore dictates teh rally (helped by his DHBH too). Which means federer has to go for broke while unbalanced.
I think even Becker is feeling sorry for Fed deep down.

It looks morbid in some way, definitely not natural. I've never seen him like this.
So angry inside, too.

Re: USO 2015: The Finale
Yep agree; also there's no way Federer would play this poor game in terms of groundstrokes when he was younger. He's really reliant on his first serve so far.ÂFedererKing wrote:Kim Jong-Un wrote:Overall if you take into account movement it's clear Federer is not as good now as he was in 2004-2007.Â
Before on his backhand side he had the pace to be able to turn onto his forehand and dictate, now he has to stick to the backhand.
Well, at least that's something we can now have some common ground over. Â The same has happened to Nadal, and all you'll hear from around the forums is how Nadal was crap and the players are now better. Â As if he isn't in rapid decline.
Djokovic is playing great, but also has some moments where he's massively mucks up easy shots.

The 2007 Federer who JUST beat Nole in 3 sets and could have lost in 3 had it not been for Novak's choking?Â
I think this Nole is a lot better than that one.

Re: USO 2015: The Finale
I think Federer just has to go for broke and not think so negatively on his own serve. Easier said than done. But Federer cannot win this match playing like this. Unless Novak's level dips. Let's hve the rain.

That was one match and he was soundly beaten in 3. Federer's service game was imperious - I watched it the other day.

Nole had set points in the first 2 sets and had leads in both I think.

Assuming Djokovic doesn't fall and break an arm, what odds are we giving New Federer (obviously being beaten simply because all the players are now much better)? Â I reckon 1-5.

Djoko balanced on every point though a bit lucky with those 2 lobs in succession. But what can federer do?

Re: USO 2015: The Finale
Apart from his backhand, Federer's game is not as good now as it was previously, surely you can see that Tenez?
Also Federer is more likely to dip now than before. He has to redline from here to win the match, which is more possible than ppl on here seem to think, but still unlikely.

I'd agree but, see, I think THIS Federer is way more mentally fragile than he used to be. We saw the same fragility against Nadal after his peak years too. He came already beaten. Even if Federer gets a break, I don't have any confidence he will keep it. Against Wawrinka, he was playing with so much positivity and heart - here it's like he's already gone.

Although saying that, he's on an up at the moment - but I expect a dip any second.
I at least want him to get a set!

Stan plays a completely different way to Novak. It looks nicer but is less rewarding against someone like Fed

Well, tbh I kinda expected this. I was really hoping he'd bring the same game and confidence but deep down I just expected a big dip. It's not over til it's over though! But if he doesn't win here, number 18 is never ever coming folks.

Again, that does not explain the massive drop in 1st serve % in set 1 especially. It's more than that.

Amazing! Cause anyone in the past was testing him like Djoko does maybe....What's so absurd is that you are looking at fed completely oblivious of who fed was playing back then.
I am confident fed woudl have looked amazing today v Kiefer or Roddick!

Roddick and Agassi (the greatest returner) played absolutely amazing against him here at the US. Â Federer was faster and better. Also his backhand was better back then too.

Re: USO 2015: The Finale
I'm not saying Djokovic is as good as Keifer/Roddick; he's a great player who's on another level... but it's clear Federer in many aspects is slightly worse/unreliable compared to when he was younger. And considering tennis is a game of margins that is a big thing; which is why Federer basically needs to redline to win for here.Tenez wrote:Kim Jong-Un wrote:Apart from his backhand, Federer's game is not as good now as it was previously, surely you can see that Tenez?
