Trip to Wimbledon Empty Trip to Wimbledon

Post by N2D2L Fri Jul 03, 2015 11:45 am

If anyone lives near London, or happens to be there during this time of year, I would definitely recommend going to Wimbledon.
Even if you don't get on a show court, even seeing some of the tennis on the outside courts is an experience in itself, and all the courts are immaculate.

I did get to go on centre court yesterday, and see Nadal Brown; the fact I got to see my favourite player play was a pleasure in itself and does soften the blow of losing.

It's easy to show your love for tennis through the keyboard, Wimbledon make you take the hard route with long queueing. I would still recommend it ! Thumbs Up

Nope, I watched Nadal in 2012 vs Rosol; and also saw him beat Berdych in WTF 2013.

Well done for making it to Wimbledon, Kimmy and seeing your favourite player.

That's how popularity of the sport works: fans fall in love with a player and start following the game.

Hopefully, you'll pick a better one after Nadal Winking

It seems you bring Nadal bad luck, Kim. smiley

ETA: Anyway must be a great experience to go there. Hope I'll make it sometime.

Thanks Winking

And no, I think my pick of Nadal has been a mightily fine one, despite the emotional roller coaster over the past decade.

I don't actually believe in jinxes (although I've light heartedly implied I do before), but if I did I probably won't be watching Rafa at Wimbledon again ! He did win when I saw him at the o2, mind.

Yh, you should definitely go sometime. You live in Holland right ? So it wouldn't be too far, a nice summer holiday in London; the only thing I'd say is that you have to queue for very long periods of time. If you want to see the last match on centre court go in the resale queue; if you want to see all day on centre court queue from the day before and camp out.

I just returned from Wimby where I tried to do the queue but the people who had reached the security gate on the park told me they had been queing since 6.45am!!!! And it was 4pm! I can't believe it took that long just to arrive at the security marquee.

I think if we had done the queue it woudl have taken me 1hour or 2 but I was too lazy to do it....as I thought there woudl be no more interesting match to watch.

That doesn't make sense, I arrived at 6:45am and was in at 11 am. And that was on a day with Federer, Nadal, and Murray playing.

I have never queued for ground passes except in week 2 when it's no wait.

Would I have a chance of getting a ground pass by 11.30 if I start queuing at 7.30?
Touts are selling ground passes for £300, pathetic!

Exactly! But they were not the only ones to say that. I guess a few more people would try Friday over Thursday as many "work from home on Friday".

What a day! Big Grin Exhausted!

I messed up this Wmbledon...but at least had one good day.
I got so hooked on it I need 2-3 full days for a proper fix!  Yikes

Every year I think I won't bother, and come June I go crazy about it all over again! diva

I suppose that's a lesson I won't have to learn next year...
