Re: Wimbledon Prediction Game: Day 2
He played well in the first set which he won easily.
In the second, struggling physically and that's where his footwork is letting him down.
Losing cheap points just because he hits the ball out of position, although he is on the ball, but doesn't do the little adjustment steps.
Still, very exciting to watch, so much fire.

I have just seen the most blatant hawk-eye error...showing the wrong mark.
Fortunately, did not affect the score much.

I tell you I don't think I have ever seen such a slow Wimbledon.
balls are huge. Wait until grass is replaced by dust and cooler temps (less ball pressure) and it's going to be a mud fight.

They were not hitting as hard but the ball was travelling as fast if not faster. It even looks to me visibly smaller.

Yes...but it really is the spin they can all now hit it with, too...it's baaaad!
Nadal makes it look worse than clay, and that's on fresh grass.
Dolgo with his fast flat hitting on the other hand, made it look fantastic.
I dunno...it's so disappointing and upsetting.

I've got tickets for CC tomorrow, but unless there is a decent match on (which it doesn't seem there will be) , I may just sell both and just walk around the grounds.

But to put spin, you need time. If the ball was pacier and skidding, they woudl not be able to put as much spin on the ball.noleisthebest wrote:Yes...but it really is the spin they can all now hit it with, too...it's baaaad!

Yes, which is why Nadal stands so far back.
I know the balls are horrible. They bounce like mad to start with. The ones I got from Pouille's coach are the official ones: big, heavy and dead.

Plus the racquets were smaller.
It's exasperating to see professional super athletes in their youthful prime play with two hands, light 100"+ racquets...with big, high bouncing balls...
Is that all they've got to show for after hitting the ball 3 hours a day for the last 20-25 years of their lives?
Safely, as hard as they can time after time, is that what tennis has come down to?
And then they want more time between the points...
In a way, I feel sorry for them as they are ruining their bodies, not enjoying the play...most would like to change things, but can't.
The game has hit the brick wall, but what do the pink jacketed posers in royal box care about that...
We are in for a serious crisis in a few years.
No amount of hype will put bums on seats to watch tennis that is coming.

They're leeching off the past for now. It won't last.
ETA: Just watching Coric - Stakh. Who'd pay money to watch Coric scramble around the court? Hopefully he'll lose.

He's pretty I guess in a boyish way, but it probably won't last into his manhood.
He breaks in the third.

Uhhh..not so sure. It doesn't take long for a sport to lose some popularity.luvsports! wrote:Thing is nitb. Tennis is more popular and more profitable than ever.
In the US, a big tennis market, tennis lost some serious momentum.
A couple of Djoko v Cilic finals and you see what happens.

For me, it was the length of rallies combined with how hard they were bashing the ball.Tenez wrote:Yes though I got them wrong....edited now.noleisthebest wrote:

I am shocked Nadal can get away with it on basically day one of grass.
Mind you, Bellucci's variety is non-existant, he was a perfect opponent for Nadal.
