Nice picture....Shows how much the fluff drags the ball down. It also shows how few players (can) keep looking at the ball during contact with the racquet.

He, he you got me here!
I certainly did not expect to see this when I saw the title Winking
This reminds me of my old theory that talented players don't screw up their face at the pont of contact with the ball.

This is even better...never thought of it like that, but it makes a lot of sense.
So long as you are in the position to whack, you can take your big swing and nothing else matters.

I suppose we can divide players into two groups: those who hit/bash and those who play the ball.

I would live to see Murray take a swing with a wooden racquet....

I just weighed this year's Wimby Slazinger  - 58g, Head (old) 55g and a tiny bit smaller.

Would be good to compare to that Babolat RG monster.

Anyway....another interesting insight from you, T, thanks!

If you google : Murray FH, Federer FH, Djoko FH and Nadal FH and click on the image tab, you have a good idea of who keeps the eyes on the ball and who doesn't.

Nadal being a good student is actually looking at the ball when striking it....most of the time. His face is certainly very grimacing but I guess with him, even a simple  "hola" makes his eyebrows and nose dance the tango.

Djoko and Murray hardly seem to care where the ball is. They are probably looking at where to run next.

It's difficult to find a picture of Federer not having his eyes planted on the ball. He even keeps his head still after the impact of the ball, like anyone should do whether playing tennis, snooker or golf.....but much harder to do in tennis...due to the urgency of reading the next shot.
