Poor Fed...I've never seen him with the head down at the changeover

Don't be fooled by Stan's game. He is allowed to play well cause Federe isn't actually moving too well.

Yep, I have never seen Fed slipping so much on a court like today. Has he given up already too? What's up with the net rushing that works at like 25%?

Fed doesn't have the power to outhit and the court and balls are taking his pace away.
The only way is forward, but Stan is passing him as Fed is not confident on his FH because of the wind as well as pace of Stan's shots.

Wawrinka can keep this up easily over 3 sets.

No fed is in pain. It's clear actually now. he doesn't even try to run to the drop shot.

Stan can just start missing, it's hard to keep such high tempo in continuity.
This set could go to TB and then....

The way Stan's serve look better than it is because Fed's "mouvement" is gone (to follow the discussion I had with Paul)!.

I was thinking about that this morning.. Fed's big injury in 2013 was from the Stan Indian Wells Match. then big tweak in 2014 was against Stan at WTF.
Now right before Wimby- again........... cursed.

Yes but I think he got that during his training session you were referring to the other day...and I think it's never far anyway.truffin1 wrote:Tenez wrote:No fed is in pain. It's clear actually now. he doesn't even try to run to the drop shot.

I am not that bothered actually. I like Stan and he probably stands more chance v the roadrunners than Fed.

Very sad, it went this way...
Just checked serve stats. Average speed down by ca. 10 km/h for Fed, fastest serve speed only 200 km/h. This doesn't look good.
Correction: 5 km/h compared to Monfils-match with slightly higher first serve percentage.

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Daily Prediction Game, Day 10 QUATER FINAL
Last chance of double career gs for Fed, but we all and he knew he wasn't beating Djoko or Nadal in the final... now if his back is wrecked for Wimbledon then that really is a massive massive blow.
It must drive him crazy to own Stan in their matchups and lose this one, but Stan was way too good.
It drives home the point that most of us see, though Fed always claims he's fresh and fit and ready to go. He just doesn't have the recovery abilities to play two long matches in a row or have something like the rain out create two days in a row of a stressful match.
Its also puts in perspective how amazing his semifinal streak was.. All those players and many of them must have been playing lights out like Stan and year after year Federer beat them.

The break seems to have really helped Nishikori out.

yes but I believe the tweak which interrupted his training session happened just before the monfils match.Autumnleaf wrote:

And Tsonga is not helping himself. Playing too defensive or over agressive on the important points.Autumnleaf wrote:The break seems to have really helped Nishikori out.

I think the problem with his back is it can go as quickly as it came. ...so I heard him say anyway.truffin1 wrote:Last chance of double career gs for Fed, but we all and he knew he wasn't beating Djoko or Nadal in the final... now if his back is wrecked for Wimbledon then that really is a massive massive blow.

oh I know. trust me- dealing with bad back and sciatica for 30 years.. Its just comes from nowhere so it's always like a little devil in your mind- you just cringe knowing one day it's coming.
I was playing some early morning tennis 3 weeks ago. We've been playing 3 mornings a week and I haven't had a back tweak in nearly a year. 1st serve return- I hit a normal forehand and immediately was in pain and locked up. In bed for 4 or 5 days after that, and it finally subsides after some prednisone treatment. Now 3 weeks later- I feel normal.
It's a hell of a thing for a professional athlete to go through- just prevents them from being free always.
Fed has some time to get ready for grass though...

If Nishikori wins this (and it's looking likely now with Tsonga piling up errors), Wawrinka will be the clear favourite for the final.
Not a prospect Djokovic will relish.

IT's ok Fed lost. It was all too slow, too cold, too windy. He never was going to win the next match, let alone the final.

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Daily Prediction Game, Day 10 QUATER FINAL
Nishikori doesn't seem to handle power too well, which is why I picked Tsonga against him too. Now Tsonga dropped his level after the break, so Nishikori might still come through.gallery play wrote:Not so sure Wawrinka is the clear favorite against Nishi.
I remember their AO match-up and Wawrinka dominating Nishikori there. Wawrinka is playing at a very high level now, as he did at the AO. You can see why he loves clay too, he can really tee off on weaker shots from opponents.

Tsonga got it together again after he lost sets 3+4. Nice to have a surprise winner in the SF for once.
So happy for Tsonga.

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Daily Prediction Game, Day 10 QUATER FINAL
How did you expect Fed to move, like spiderman. You are trying to portray as if Fed played poor and that's why he lost and hence Stan won. I'm sorry but I would disagree here, Fed played quiet good. You can even look at his match stats. Only Stan's stats were much better and so the result. Fed missed some key volleys, but that was due to pressure exerted by the Stan shots and passes.Tenez wrote:Don't be fooled by Stan's game. An on-song Stan beats everyone, we have seen it before. Why not again.
