Re: Roland Garros 2015: Daily Prediction game Day 7 Saturday 30 - May
Having read an interview with Berdych, he has confirmed a lot of already mentioned things about current courts and balls.
Berd said that the quality of RG courts this year is the worst for last 12 years. He showed by fingers two centimeters of clay layer to Bernardes. Very disappointing.
Balls are totally different than in other atp events, very dull. Therefore Berd's racket tension is 4 kilo lesser than his standard.
Organizers have just prepared courts really badly and fetched weirdest balls, that are available.
It looks as if organizers have fears from a good quality tennis. They show quite terrible stuff there.

Nole mentioned the poor state of courts, as well, and is annoyed umpires again don't allow watering.
He sprained hip flexor yesterday because of unevenness of the ground and was worried he may get injured.
Not good.

Well I think the Babolat people are under lots of pressure now with all that was said about it.
Those conds certainly helped Monfils today v Cuevas..and yes will help Nadal, though I think he is beyond help!

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Daily Prediction game Day 7 Saturday 30 - May
I look forward to both Aussie matches today, esp the Kyrg one.
I hope he is at least 95% fit to play, as he's been carrying several smaller injuries all season.
I like his easy power and attacking mindset, but as Fed said he needs to find the way to channel that talent nto finding ways to win.
Murray will be a good test for him.
If Kyrg is fit, anything can happen.
With Nole-Kokki, less so. Although he is good, Koki is not in the same league as Kyrg.
I hope Sock manages not to fall into Coric "Nadal" trap, would be good to see him take on Nadal in r4.
Kuznetsov..well that's a classic light-weight DBH-er I was talking about re Nadal's fixed draw...though he is a quality one...it shouldn't be boring as he is a good competitor.

It's all just "front", LS...his ego can't cope with losing.
That's where Kokkinakis, although not as talented is ahead if him, quite mature and good competitor.
There is more to heart than just going for shots, it's about gritting it out - corazon!!!

His shot selection is poor at times. Thats why he loses lot of points which he could easily win. Often going for too much when he doesn't need to. Attempt some outrageous shots just too boost that show-off nature of being a star. Murray hasn't played anything great today but is easily winning this one.

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Daily Prediction game Day 7 Saturday 30 - May
I don't think it matters how good Djokovic was when same age as Kokki. Lots of players have had a great juniors career and if you look age wise that time, they were better than most. But it doesn't really transition into how good they would continue to be. Monfils, Gasquet, Chardy, were all great among in their young age.
Rank-wise Kokki is better than what Djokovic was, but thats no indication that 10 years from now Kokki too will be as dominant as Djokovic.
Did you ever thought looking at a 19yo Fed that he would become GOAT? Some players just transform themselves, some stay where they were.

Well actually Rotla, that was the remarkable part. Even before he won his first slam, there already was a buzz of that young swiss player who possibly could break Sampras' slam record.raiders_of_the_lost_ark wrote:Did you ever thought looking at a 19yo Fed that he would become GOAT? That's a testiment of how incredible his touch was because he was also known for having a bad temper and being a weak matchplayer.
Let alone his movement. Take a look a this clip, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgDncDs2h5o) he's 19yo here, his movement is almost laughable but his hands alone were enough to beat Goran. Insiders knew there was something special up and coming.
Young players now are much better athletes but no one comes close to Fed's raw talent.

Re: Roland Garros 2015: Daily Prediction game Day 7 Saturday 30 - May
By my point Rotla is not that they are going to have a better slam record than Djoko and Nadal. My point is the fact that Djoko and Nadal who used fitness to dominate have had it easy as no-one else was nearly as fit then. in 3 or 4 years time players will need to be either much fitter or be as fit with much more weapons.raiders_of_the_lost_ark wrote:I don't think it matters how good Djokovic was when same age as Kokki. Nadal and Djoko have only fitness working for them. That won't be enough in 3 years time. I'd say even next year in fact.

Nole won his first slam before he got super-fit.
No need to put him in the same basket with Nadal. Murray fits there more.
It's he who only started winning slams after piling on 6kg of muscle during one off-season.

Well they're from different tennis generations, so it's hard to compare, but I think it's clear that Djoko was showing more obvious signs of exceptional talent at the same age, a talent that has been borne out by his ATG career record. Do you think it's likely that Kokki will win a maiden slam by age 20 and, if not, is that an admission that Djoko won his first during a weak era!?Tenez wrote:Djoko is better....but not by much.

Well enough to make Kyrg panic and start playing stupid.
It was hard for him to play his game in these conditions against a patient Murray who is finally looking comfortable in his movement.
I am not sure if he could beat Nadal over 5 sets. He has more chance against him than Nole.

Hey Tenbo,
Indeed all is well. I hope all is well with you. Thought I would stop in. Haven't been here for a while and being a creature of habit stuck mainly to the other place, but a poster has encouraged me to look afield and try other forums.

If Djoko's success is so dependent on fitness, how do you explain his particularly dominant best of 3 record over the last few years?Tenez wrote:By my point Rotla is not that they are going to have a better slam record than Djoko and Nadal. Nadal and Djoko have only fitness working for them. That won't be enough in 3 years time. I'd say even next year in fact.
Talent + mental strength is what separates the best from the rest. Without those two ingredients, all the fitness in the world won't make a difference. All top level sport has a physical component and tennis is no different, but it is, in my opinion, still predominantly a game of incredible skill. Sure, the sport has become more physical over the last few years, but, for me, the physicality is the icing on the cake. You have to first be able to go toe-to-toe with skill and execution before fitness can even come into play.
Do you really believe this great sport has become so demeaned by physicality that arguably the greatest talent the game has ever seen can be dominated simply by superior fitness? If someone like Nadal has really found a talent-free way of winning, where are all the Nadal clones that are simply replicating his approach? I'm not for a second saying that fitness isn't important to Nadal's playing style. It clearly is. All I'm saying is that there must be other ingredients too, ingredients that would normally be described as talents.

Good to have you. It's a free thinker forum here.legendkillar wrote:Tenez wrote:Hi LK....long time no read. Hope all is well.legendkillar wrote:Watching Nadal and Kuznetsov is like watching Tyson vs a paraplegic! Got 2 channels and I can't escape the match!
Hey Tenbo,
Indeed all is well. I hope all is well with you. Thought I would stop in. Haven't been here for a while and being a creature of habit stuck mainly to the other place, but a poster has encouraged me to look afield and try other forums.
Amazing to think I have Eurosport and ITV4 and I can't get anything but this match!

Oh really? I'm sure I remember Murray enjoying impressive results as a youngster while his fitness was, frankly, a joke. How do you explain that? What about Murray's aggressive returning position these days? Is that also reliant on his fitness and muscle. I think not.noleisthebest wrote:Nole won his first slam before he got super-fit.
No need to put him in the same basket with Nadal. Murray fits there more.
It's he who only started winning slams after piling on 6kg of muscle during one off-season.

Sock through. Just hope he hits freely in his next match and doesn't succumb between the ears.
