1 Novak Djokovic SRB 13025 - Roma QF - 13205 13845
2 Roger Federer SUI 8815 - Roma QF - 8995 9635
3 Andy Murray GBR 7040 - - Lost in Roma R16 - -
4 Tomas Berdych CZE 5230 +1 Roma QF - 5410 6050
5 Kei Nishikori JPN 5220 +1 Roma QF - 5400 6040
6 Milos Raonic CAN 4800 -2 - - - -
7 Rafael Nadal ESP 4570 - Roma QF - 4750 5390
8 David Ferrer ESP 4310 - Roma QF - 4490 5130
9 Stan Wawrinka SUI 3665 - Roma QF - 3845 4485
10 Marin Cilic CRO 3325 - -
It looks like Nadal has zero chance of making it to top 4 for RG now, unless he wins Rome and a few matches next week...
As Raonic is not playing RG, Stan should be seeded 8.

Actually, quite interesting who makes it the 4th seed, Nishi or Berd.
If it's Nishi, then Nadal is guaranteed to be in Fed's half but whose quarter?

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Rome
Fed needs to grow as confident as possible on his FH in this match...none of those overcooked loopy approach ones or impatient, lazy flatties...
His tennis has changed so much with the big racquet...but I like the BH more now, he is trusting it again!
Still, he needs as many wins as possible at this stage to be ready and flying in Wimbledon.

Beginning to enjoy the match now that the claws are out
Fed's angry after having to serve that game again and now playing some absolutely roaring tennis!

I hope that Fed will go through Berdych and then even if I root for Stan, I would like to see a Fedal match for this case.
Something tells me that Fed will win it

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Rome
Well, Berd's done really well this year, he's currently number 4, so he's reached his ceiling.
I was actually thinking about him last week when I was watching Kvitova demolish everyone in Madrid.
She has lost all her excess weight and completely freed her movement, flying all over the court, not pinned to the baseline any more relying on risky shots from there any more.
I said some time ago that Berd needed to lose weight and get light and quick on his feet...otherwise, he will always be moved around on the baseline by good returners.
That is is his only chance.
But I also think he doesn't have much heart to come in anyway, which is why he is happy where he is: nice life, top 8 player, DC hero in his country...number one is cut out for special beasts!

Btw, what's wrong with the schedule?
It's about time Nadal played in the evening for once....

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Rome
I don't mind Nadal finishing later, obviously someone has to finish later, but I don't get why we the schedule putting the same half of the draw in the earliest morning slot and also latest evening slot. It would make much more sense to have them playing consecutively, each half of the draw.noleisthebest wrote:Kim Jong-Un wrote:Who the flying feck came up with this schedule ?

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Rome
Yes, that does make sense provided top half of the draw is scheduled to play 2nd SF slot tomorrow, but we don't know whether that's going to be the case in Rome.
We may have Fedal scheduled for the evening slot due to historic popularity of their match-up.

Just got back...Nole complained to his team clay is unplayable as he can't slide on it and doesn't want to get injured.

It's amazing how Djoko managed to get back in that rally at 15 all...still lost the point...but hard work.

I didn't see much, just the first and last game.
Nishi looks his old self. He has started playing too conservatively for his talent again.
Nole returns his serve well on clay...making Nishi look like a light-weight version of himself, except that Nishi can't return as well.

Nishi serving better now....strange it seems Djoko can't read Nishi's serve as easily as he reads Federer's.

The quality of shots from Noshi is generally vastly superior but as he goes for the lines he also makes more UEs. Is that the way to win v Djoko? f
difficult balance to find.

No it's not.
He can't maintain it and is unable to play all-court tennis.
You have to have great variety against Nole.

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Rome
Absolutely. Berd is just too slow against the best. He can hit really hard, but there are a couple of players who can wear him out nicely. Even ifhis serve is good, it is quite readable and better opponents can return many of his serves. He is just a sort of player, who miss just a bit for each surface, i.e. better moves, more game variaty, sometimes consistency, more serve variability and then it is his not rock solid mentality and his unpleasant / bland court behaviour.noleisthebest wrote:Well, Berd's done really well this year, he's currently number 4, so he's reached his ceiling.

Berd's done well and had a good career, he's played in a tough era.
He is a bit childish on court, but I find Murray much worse; he gets away with it because of where he comes from.

Wow, I just saw the last two points of Sharapova-Azarenka...the level of Sharapova's screaming was monstrous.
Someone in the crowd really needs to tell her to shut up!
I don't understand why everyone is putting up with it, it's utterly disgusting!

Exactly. Berd's Czech fans are mostly women, but just a few men. Their both have poor court behaviour, only difference from my view is that I laugh when watching frustrated Murray.

Watching Nadal on his serve is worse than watching a toilet. I just can't watch him. Crooked character, stupid game and moronic antics. Taking 30 secs before his serve, an umpire does nothing.
