The best club in the world.....
http://countryclubaixois.com/tennis-club/
I just realised that this club is organising a challenger every year. While I was boarding student in Aix en provence, I used to have lunch in this club during the spring season. The food was excellent, they had swimming pool and the owners' son was a friend of mine. The surrounding was beautiful and every now and then we had French international stars popping up for a game. I was not playing there at the time unfortunately but I was following the FO from their bar/restaurant with 10s of members.
Dream location and dream provencial life style for the owners of this club. The son is probably the owner now.....unless they have sold since. I visited that place on a daily basis in 1983/84.
Yesterday Golubev was playing, there....lucky him.

Re: The best club in the world.....
Oooooh lucky you T...tennis is such a natural sport in France, and you got to enjoy it fully from a young age!
While your feet were gliding across that beautiful clay, mine were trudging & toiling in endless corn and pea fields of my grandparents' farm working for a shoe-string summer holiday, dreaming of winning Wimbledon one day...
Must be why I can't get enough of it now!
The club indeed is gorgeous, I'll make it there one day
Are they interested in twinning with a nice club from Berkshire ?

Re: The best club in the world.....
Worth asking. If you have grass courts you may have a chance. I was in Surbiton for a surrey match last Sunday and they are organising a tournament there. Beautiful grass and setting and have had Tsonga and other champs winning there in the past. The qualif are free and I will probably go this year. I advised them to invite Rublev!noleisthebest wrote:Oooooh lucky you T...tennis is such a natural sport in France, and you got to enjoy it fully from a young age!

Yeah it's a beautiful place.. I can play outdoors every month of the year basically. Island off of Charleston SC... Charleston which includes our area was named #1 tennis town in USA by USTA a few years ago!

I only just saw this sentence now
I'll probably be in Belgrade that week, but am going to go to watch qualies for Wimby in Roehampton this year also free entrance.
Didn't get any tickets both in general and club ballot...AGAIN!
Planning to go on first Tuesday to see Fed, and then...even may camp for QFs or SF, I've got to do it before I die!

I just had a look at the rankings below 128 to see who's likely to be playing qualies for Wimbledon, and had a shock...guess who's at 157?

He was injured for quite a while. He missed 3 of the 4 2014 slams and retired in the first round at the FO.
