Nole, Agut, Lopez, Monfils, Raonic, Wawrinka, Simon, Nishi.
A question:
who believes Troicki can take out both Berd and Nadal?

I wouldn't've dared ask this question in the past, but reading Troicki's interview to a Serbian paper and seeing a bit of him play in Sydney, he says he is playing very relaxed and enjoying the comeback and tennis more than ever, also that he feels good in the body (I suppose a year off did give him a great rest/recovery despite the training).
He's got lot of firepower, weapon serve and he is going for his shots.
He wouldn't have beaten L.Mayer before the ban, he is playing looser now and I think that's bringing him success.
Mind you, he was top 15 once, I think.
He even mentioned stg like: he hated how he had to pay for others' doping.
I think it would be easier for him to beat Nadal than get past Berd, as Berd has better serve than Nadal.

I's not so much about the serve..its about Nadal's heavy ball. Much harder to control.

Yes, how could I have forgotten...
I was carried away by Smy's success today thinking if he could send Nadal into his Oscar mode, so can Troicki.
I reckon even Sela will have a crack on Friday, he's def better than Smy...anything to keep Nadal's confidence wobbly!
Troicki is not a pure basher, he can actually play now and then...

Yes many coudl have beaten Nadal today....but Nadal was lucky to play a loser. I expect Nadal to be in better form next rounds.noleisthebest wrote:Yes, how could I have forgotten...

Monfils wasting a setpoint in the 3rd set on his serve by playing gutlessly.

Yes, I saw the scores, shame...he is physically so disadvantaged in this era, he plays on pure talent, zero muscle on him, even Goffin looks like a Michelin man compared to him.

Re: Australian Open 2015: Matches of the day : Day 4 22-Jan-2015
I love my slam sofa life....woke up at around 3 am (no alarm clock, in fact I don't even know where it is! and am useless with setting one up on my phone) and Nole had just literally started his match.
By the time I got myself a drink and started to watch he was already 4:0 up.
I saw Kuznetsov before, not a bad player but Nole simply steam-rolled him.
1 set bagel, 21 minutes...then more of the same in the second.
I could see he wanted a triple bagel match, but Kuz managed to win a game at 1:4.
All in all, Nole looked very ready for the title.
The conditions looked quite a bit faster than in the evening matches and I was pleased to see Nole go for his shots, although there was not much pressure, he was pleased with himself there. Hopefully he'll carry that confidence and do it more often.
It is going to be quite tough to play Raonic in day session, but they'll probably be scheduled for the evening.

Surprised by Agut's loss, I think he's injured as he's had a few unexpected losses already in 2015.
Muller's always been a decent player, he mellows like mulled wine.

Wow!
Momf - JJ into 5th set!!!
I quite liked JJ when he broke through in Bercy 3 years ago, and he is still fun to watch, but somehow he has turned into this really angry, ungraceful persona on the court, over the top for my taste.

Same here. It's Roidrage I guess...seeing how he is so much fitter than in that Bercy tournament.

It's funny to see two tall players drop-shotting each other and running to the net.
JJ looks old for his age thanks to the dark expression of his face.
Interesting match!
Monf is a much more complete player and should win this, but again lazy and passive, maybe he can't play any other way, as he clearly loves his athletic gifts.
He could be deadly with a different mindset, but I like him the way he is anyway...

From what I saw, JJ played gutsier and won.
His game hasn't changed much from 3 years ago and I like that.
He is not trying to build a rallying base-line game like Raonic, just does what he does well with that height: serves, goes for the lines and drop-shots...
It worked today.

Me, too.
Not a single snowflake last and this year, though...
The year before was great, I remember going to the club (that was my first year there), nobody had been there that morning, so all courts covered in fresh snow, it was magical!
I felt like I was 6 again, ran around a bit, then lay down and made a star shape next to the net and took a photo.
I even threw a few snowballs in the direction of SW19
Silly club secretary that arrived minutes later didn't let me play because of health&safety....
One of the reasons I enjoy AO is the complete contrast of frosty winter mornings & heating on full blast here and people in T-shirts in 40 degrees there...all watching the same tennis match!

Me neither. I figured, it's fine until the 2nd of february, though it seems I am the only one in the neighbourhood. There are regions nearby though where 2nd of february is the official end of christmas time.noleisthebest wrote:I still have my Christmas decorations on, the house looks so pretty with them!
Got some snow too finally and will be off x-country skiing in the weekend. Last weekend it was still not quite enough.

Lucky you, I've never tried cross-country skiing, only the "normal" one. My Ukranian friend just came back from Russia and showed me his video of cross-country skiing around a lake and through a forest, outside St Petersburg, it looked lovely.
I am not a huge skiing fan as it's so much hassle just to get to the slope from the UK and even then the weather can be bad, but I love going to a nice warm wooden hut after the long day and have a hot drink and a hearty meal!
When I lived in Switzerland (man, they know how to enjoy snow) I loved going down a mountain slope on a sledge, the ride was about 30 mins non-stop.
So, you are lucky to be in Germany where snow is always there in winter and close by. Enjoy!
