Djoko held his nerve well there.
BTW: it isn't a long match is it? 90 minutes for 2 sets

With Nadal's current level of fitness it's about impossible to maintain a momemtum against him for long on clay

What do you think?  Who is going to win today?

I'll pick Djoko now.
Tough one, but i think Nadal Cry  He's fitter
I hope you are right! Winking

What is annoying is that Djoko's level is with so much up and down....and almost everytime there is a close game, Rafa takes it. That's my concern.

I suspect they both want it but with Rafa it is simpler - he always plays his game - win or lose, it is the other guy who needs to get through him.  So from Rafa's perspective, I do not think much changes at RG whether or not he wins today.

For Nole, RG is more emotional - and arguably his nerves cost him last year.

Also, looking at the match today, it feels like Nole is taking it as a dry run for the RG - he seems to be nervous except when he is losing.

Nadal is not nervous...he is mentally beaten. He knows that he can only win by hitting harder and running quicker...and that simple fact is affecting him mentally.

The thing is Djoko has played Nadal so many times, and hit those spiny balls those many times, that he can time them better than anybody.

It is not going to be good for Nole if he loses today.  Up a break in the deciding set, and losing yet again.  Not good if that happens.

Another weird encounter where I felt Djoko could have won in 2 easy sets but let it slip a bit.

he looks dead relax when playing Rafa. He can time Rafa's ball like no other player. he has been exposed to so many of them!

Nadal was cluless. Not sure more energy for rafa would help. But what I noticed from Rafa is that he was never going for line or close to them.....this is why he cannot stretch Djoko. Way too gutless from rafa.

Ok now the bad news....Rafa is still number one could easily retain it for after Wimby if he wins the FO and has still a 22/19 H2H advantage over Djoko.

So Djoko, you have the tennis world on your shoulders!

Nadal has no weapons and no answers for Djokovic.  He can't beat him playing his normal game and he has absolutely no idea what to do about it.  No B game. HAha!

That is why we should reflect on those coaches who are/were paid £900k by the LTA, like Brad Gilbert who called Rafa the "tennis brain" of teh tour.....ignoring that it was Nadal's legs and guns that actually made the difference. How come someone who has played on the tour can be so crap in analysing the game.

Not on;y BH but FH.It's a clear case of Djoko being aa step ahead of Nadal and reading Nadal's game so well that he can aniticipate where Nadal woudl be inclined to run before Nadal himself. To be fair others can do it....but Djoko can execute longer  and don't panic while the others do.

Then he loosened up mid 3rd and let rip. I really enjoyed it.
Why doesn't he play like that all the time!

I thought you said Murray has great anticipation and reads the game well....
