A huge welcome to GP!!! who, out of a joke, was the one who initiated the idea of having a forum for us.

I consider GP an excellent analyst of tennis and sport in general so I am really pleased he joined here. To be fair I knew he would cause as mentioned he is at the origin of this tiny but quality forum.

Looking fwrd to reading you here.

Hello everybody,

this is Autumnleaf, found this forum accidentally. Mainly because I am most interested in physical aspects and I feel there is not enough emphasize on them in many places. Instead too much repetition of rather irrelevant things, like goats and h2hs. Besides ... it seems cozy and a nice place for discussion. Big Grin Though I share a lot of opinions with the members here, so maybe not too much to comment then Winking ...

I adore beauty and grace and natural ease. That sums up my favourites, I think. Big Grin

I remember you as you were in the last autumn.
You were the grey beret and the still heart.
In your eyes the flames of the twilight fought on.
And the leaves fell in the water of your soul.

Hi AL

Welcome here on board and good to read you. You forgot to mention you were based in Germany.....is that true or did I misread googles data.

yes, the sport is very much about fitness nowadays. Let's put it this way, being super fit like nadal is not guarantee to win, but if you are not superfit, you simply have no chance to win. When I say superfit I mean Murray/ Djoko and Nadal's level.

Then yu have an exception called Federer who can win slams without being as fit as they are.....oh and then you have a second exception: Stan who though not as fit and not as talented as Federer, can have a very good day and a bit of luck!

Re: Welcome to Our Tennis Forum

Post by Autumnleaf on Thu May 22, 2014 9:15 am

hey everybody, thanks for the welcome,

yes, based in Germany, didn't think it was important.  Blush I enjoy international communities. Besides, interest in tennis is waning in Germany since the days of Boris Becker and Steffi Graf. For ex. the Wimbledon WTA final last year was not broadcasted in free TV, even though it starred Sabine Lisicki! A comparable thing would never happen with football.

You will be hard pressed to find many news about even the biggest stars. As an exemple: the Rome ATP results were not even mentioned in our local newspaper, they did write about 4 lines about the women though. I would be surprised if many people would even recognize Roger Federer of all people. I know I didn't, before my interest rekindled which obviously took some effort, because nothing to little is shown on TV. Big Grin Since I work home-based, it wasn't too hard to do though.

I find it fascinating, that it's quite different in other countries. Big Grin

And it might be hard to believe NITB, that's true, but not so much when you see which aspects I am most interested in. When you do search for such aspects, you will find this place interestingly enough. I won't hide that I was most interested in the drug aspect in all sports, but I do not have a moral approach to that question. And there are not many places where there is free, unbiased discussion, unfortunately.

He, he...the more you try, the harder it is to believe. It is virtually impossible to find OTF without either being from v2, or getting the link from someone associated with it.
I once had my history search cleared and went into a panic mode trying to find it and I even knew the name of the forum...
It doesn't really bother me if people wish to remain secret about who they were on v2 etc, others have said the same thing, had multiple IDs here,  have all sorts of agenda, they come and go....but I am a bit old-fashioned and like to know who I talk to (if I can) as I take OTF seriously and with lots of love.
That's all.
As you surely know, this is a place where we love tennis and discuss all its aspects incl drug (ab)use. There is the ITF thread if you want to read through it...

As for tennis coverage, it's the same in the UK. If Wimbledon was not local, we wouldn't be able to see it either...

Dear NITB,

I am so sorry you don't believe that I don't have any ties to v2. I know that forum though, didn't think it was worth reading or writing there, maybe I got the link from there, I don't remember exactly. Sad I take some time deciding whether a community is worth joining or not. I thought OTF is worth it because there are some very knowledgable contributors and a nice atmosphere. And yes, honesty and respect are important in that respect.

I would see no reason in lying about such stuff... Well, maybe if I wrote some stupid things I now feel ashamed off. Just kidding now, no reason to be ashamed of something when talking about sports. Big Grin

I would feel ashamed if I ever offended someone intentionally / attacked personally though, so there is that. But since I have not done that ever in any forum I have contributed, I don't feel endangered there.

Anyway, cheers!  Cheers

AL...don't worry about it either. It's just about tennis....and even if you were someone we knew from before it would not matter cause this is the internet anyway and we only know each other by what we post! and here we post about tennis...as this is all that matters.

Thanks for contributing!

Hi everyone - just joined a couple of days ago.

Have been a tennis fan since the likes of McEnroe, Borg and Connors through Lendl, Becker and Edberg, Sampras, Agassi right up to Federer, Nadal, Djoko and Murray.

I have a couple of those players I like more than others but I guess you find that out from my forum posts smiley

Good to be here and look forward to debating with you all.

Hello all

I posted first in the tennis forum instead of introducing myself here.

that tells you a little about me already

I used to post in original 606, then in MTL and still in 606v2 (almost sure that always under same alias)

I am from spain and yes... I like clay tennis.

Nadal fan, but also admire Federer, and the rest of the troupe
