I was away the last 3 weeks but glad to see this site picking up still.

The recent tennis events and results have left me indifferent. I would have loved Federer to win the OG but frankly I was not that bothered much either way as I have always found Fed's quest for gold kind of over-blown.

I am not glad nor upset about Murray winning it. I just was surprised he beat Nole in straight sets but I am probably underestimating the influence of teh huge crowd. However glad to see that as I predicted Murray was going to be a real force and a problem for all top players, be it in a best of 3 or 5 final. However, his fans are still looking for that sacred slam!

Will Cincy tell us anything this week? No, at least for thetop 6 players. It's a preparation tournament for the USO so all top players will play with some gas left under their foot.

And what about the USO? Who, amongst the top 4 really cares about it?
Federer could win a record's 6th?
Djoko could still add another slam getting closer to the "greats" and secure his year end title.
Murray probably wants it more than anybody else and currently the man in form.
Nadal will not play. We know that!

I am not sure how it is for you but taking time away I have lost a bit of interest in the game, or at least its results. Let's see if I can get hooked again!

Yes, I feel that with Federer winning Wimbledon, when least expected, and regaining the number 1 spot, there is little challenge left for him...I would say another FO, WImby and maybe AO are his only goals now so, it's going to be about slams more than ever.

The Olympic gold medal has been a real focus point for Roger and its mainly been what has motivated him to continue playing
Im hoping that winning Wimbledon and regaining the no1 ranking will be what continues to motivate Roger but its hard to think that if Roger goes through another 2 year drought of not winning another major that he wont retire
Lets hope the 2016 Rio Olympics motivates Roger to keep playing, cause the day he retires will be a sad day for the tennis world

I don't think the OG was really his motivation for keeping motivated. I think he really wanted it but that if he failed again, he woudl be prefectly fine with carrying on.

It's when his body will acke too much that he will stop....the losses won;t affect him much because I think, contrary to what some believe, he is not that big headed or arrogant and enjoys the game and new challenges provided by the new players.

However I agree than in a couple of years he will most likely retire..due to the physical side of the game...unless they speed the conds up!
