Djoko fans need to understand that Nole's wins over Delpo are quite Nadal-esque.
I'm not automatically rooting for the underdog but from a neutral view i can only say that it's Delpo doing the heroics and Djoko absorbing it till there's nothing left in.
This is clear as crystal gp. Djokovic has totally gone the Nadal way, and it had to be since tennis itself has moved that way.The 6th point in the TB where Djokovic absorbed everything and then was able to hit a winner in a 24 shot rally broke Delpo's resistance.

Delpo also lacks in net play, this also proved quite vital in the end. Djo winning 17/18 net point where as Delpo came in only 4 times (IIRC). He had many chances to come in a finish the point with a volley, but he didn't. Possible he might have got passed on some occasions, but when u are against someone like Djokvic who can return so many balls, this risk is worth taking.

Delpo has the game to beat anyone, but he needs some more variety.

I did not see the match today but Delpo really needs to buy a a first serve...huge margin for improvement.

Yes shame Delpo lost....still no TMS 1000!!!! for that great player...so weird...tough he misses most of the clay season usually.

On the positive side I want Djoko to finish ahead of Nadal in the ranking so that is not a too bad result.

His server was good except in the 1st set. In fact brilliant on many occasions. The court was made a bit quicker this year, so that helped. But the fact is Djokovic returns quiet good, So unless a Karlovic or Isner is serving, its not going to be easy for the server at all ( may not be even for those 2 either ).

No for me. I certainly would have liked a Delpo's win. He is the best among the chasing pack to break the strong hold of the top-4 . Last 30/32 TMS have been won by Fed/Nadal/Djo/Murray Soderling and Ferrer won Bercy in 11, 12.

Chance of Nadal finishing YE #1 is very high. He is playing Basel, Bercy and London. Lots of points to gain.

I certainly wanted to see Delpo win...but I just saw a positive side in that loss. I believe you are much less sided than me when it comes to Nadal/Djoko. If I understand you even prefer Nadal even.

You are  right on this about my choices. Honestly I don't have much to pick between Nadal and Djokovic. If Nadal has performed better than Djokovic this year, then I don't have any reasons to hope or wish that Djokovic should somehow be able to retain YE #1. They both come up as 'manufactured' players for me. Though Djokoivc scores over Nadal in terms of on/off court behavior.

I tried this 'rooting against your favored player' thing at USopen 13 and I had terrible time watching the match. Yes it was Djokovic-wawrinka semis and I was rooting against Wawrinka and I didn't like it one bit. I rather had wished for Wawrinka in the final no matter what happens after that. I still would have been able to enjoy a great match and brilliant play from Wawrinka.

Thats why I wanted Delpo to win his first Masters even though it might have meant Djokovic' chances of YE #1 going almost nil.

I rather root for my favourite players than root against some. This negative wishing is no fun for me.

So you had wished for Djoko to win over Wawrinka cause you actually wanted Djoko to win over Nadal.....is that right? Well then we view things pretty similar and I agree...not fun to rout for the less favoured player.

For some time I did, but it was bad. I couldn't enjoy the great semis match. That's why I'm now not going to root for someone loss, I'll prefer my favored to win rather.
