London 2012 Olympics: Match of The Day (Round 4 QF)
Round 4, down to last 8.
Some good matches today as well as some surprises. Ferrer out, making Federer's draw look like a 500 event in Basel.
First out on Centre Court (after the women's match) are
Djokovic - Tsonga
followed by
Federer - Isner
On Court one at 12.00:
Murray - Almagro
followed by
Del Potro Nishikori (with a women's match in between)
Another great day of tennis in store for fans, I am expecting a few tight matches but all favourites to go through.

"Federer's draw look like a 500 event in Basel."
Not necessarily. Some would argue Isner maybe the toughest QF opponent bc of his unreturnable serve. In a BO3 format he has a better chance of acing anyone out of the match without losing form. So potential upset here, I'm afraid.
I think murray's draw is easier. just that he hasn't performed better than Fed even with a favorable draw. Didn't he drop a set to an unseeded player yesterday?
I'll always remember the best line I learned from v2."The cream will rise to the top, (regardless)."
PS: Just wanted to add that Tsonga on paper would be the toughest. But his marathon tie-break with Raonic may have a lingering negative effect, making him more tired today, although he still straight-setted Lopez yesterday. Must admit, this guy reminds me of Soderling, he NEVER looks tired. Today vs Djoko should be a good one. :joker:

Noley, re court assignment, I think they've shown fairness when the tourny reaches the more important rounds by putting the 2 top seeds at CC and Murray at C1 today, accordingly. Djoko also played in CC yesterday while Fed was relegated to C1.
Feeling better now?

Absolutely, it was about time Murray played outdoors.
All I care about is that Nole wins it in the end

Re: London 2012 Olympics: Match of The Day (Round 4 QF)
The draw hasn't opened out for anyone well enough to have it as an advantage. Murray's potential Qtr. opponent Berdy gone in R1, but a low-on-confidence-and-form Berdy is worse than Almagro. So, its about the same.
Ferrer wouldn't have met Fed before semis, but we know Ferrer might not have been able to beat Fed even on the slowest possible clay, forget grass. Between Isner and Tipsy on grass, I would pick Inser as a more dangerous opponent.
Tsonga is Tsonga, but he has spent a lot of time on court which includes doubles matches as well. So could be tiring with this consequtive days of play.

If you look at the track history on grass for the players remaining in the draw, you'll get the idea of how unevenly balanced it has been from the start.

I would prefer to look at the recent form, recent matches and hours on court given the daily schedule, and confidence level than the old history. On that account, out of the 3, Fed has the toughest opponent in Qtr finals. A winner of the last grass court tournament in newport.

Murray a set an a break up. Almagro is losing his temper and the composure. Its slipping away quickly for him.
Very good match going on between Azarenka-Kerber.

Already!
I was just about to start watching Nole Tsonga assuming the first match on Centre is over.

I've been liking Nole's forehand all tournament. Using it as a weapon and dictating with it as soon as he can. Been waiting for this a long time 8)

Well done, Nole!! :flower:
Isner came in without dropping a set and he dropped 2 vs Fed!
Well done, Fed. That last winning pt from the BH CC dropping just over the net is particularly sweet. :flower:
