Wimbledon 2013: Day 8 Women's QF

Post by ... on Tue Jul 02, 2013 10:55 am

After yesterday's huge upset which left women's draw without its main favourite and defending champion Serena Williams, just like in the men's draw, there is only one Wimbledon champion left - Petra Kvitova.

With Sharapova knocked out in round 2 & Azarenka's withdrawal, the path to Wimbledon glory is now open to all these 8 ladies:

Centre Court
1.00pm
LADIES' SINGLES - QUARTER-FINALS
Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) [4]
v
Na Li (CHN) [6]

Petra Kvitova (CZE) [8]
v
Kirsten Flipkens (BEL) [20]
No.1 Court
1.00pm

Sabine Lisicki (GER) [23]
v
Kaia Kanepi (EST)

Sloane Stephens (USA) [17]
v
Marion Bartoli (FRA) [15]

I do actually. She hits a soft ball but that is what I like in todays usually super powerful game...

Yes, the soft ball is nice, but everything else is so frustrating (esp panting and grunting), for me, at least.
Women's tennis needs a Mannarino or Dustin Brown:)

She is a grumpy, snarling, pugnacious women bartoli, not a fan at all.

Radwanska definitely a better and more natural player, Li looks so erratic and unstable.
Neither seem to have any purpose in a point...

I did pick her to win, just find her game irritating . I prefer to watch the rough as guts groundstrokes of Bartoli hit  with all that heart instead.
But I have to say it's good to have a player like Radwanska in the top. there is way too much power there in all other players.

Just remembered Errani. No, I shouldn't be so hard on poor Aga Blush

Kvitova Flipkens next.

Didn't have a clue about who Flipkens is until I saw this clip a minute ago, in it she tells a journalist to be quiet, quite funny:

Didn't realise Lisicki is already in the SF, bt Kanepi.
I reckon Radwanska Lisicki final most likely.

With Kvitova, you just never know, esp now that Radek The Heartbreaker is in the conversation Winking

Except that they are on the same side of the draw so the SF is Radwanska Lisicki already. I'd give the edge to the latter despite the fact the former got to the final last year. Most likely Kvitova in the final on the other side...

And Bartoli's through in straight sets, extra happy as the C1 crowd chose to support Stephens.... Applause

Pretty close between Petra and Flipkens, Flipkens serving for the match 5:4. Come on Petra let rip with that FH diva
