Philippe Chatrier nb 2:00 PM
Victoria Azarenka (BLR) [3]vs.Maria Sharapova (RUS) [2]
Serena Williams (USA) [1]vs.Sara Errani (ITA) [5]
A bit sad to see only two matches played today, but that's who tennis tournament life goes.....

Re: Roland Garros 2013 Day 12 Prediction Thread (Women's SF)
Very tough to call the first match, Sharapova seems to be desperate to defend her title or at least have another go at Serena, but Azarenka has plenty of fire-power and grit to stay with her.
It will be punishing for the ears .....
In the second match, I can't wait to see Serena blast Errani off back to Italy.
Sharapova, Williams

Victoria Azarenka (BLR) hopefully
Serena Williams (USA) hopefully
I thought the FO used to have a day for a mens semi each...like the AO. Now they have pushed fairness to its extreme by throwing the 2 1/4F at exactly the same time and the 2 semis on teh same day. Luckily the 1/4Fs were quite boring and one sided....but I woudl have hated having 2 good matches going at once.

I am impressed by the level of tennis between those two. A bot of break or make from annoying SHara but she still deliver many shots close to the lines.

It is impressive, but I'm not a fan. I think Aza would win with a wooden racquet.

Seems Sharapova is bagging this one. She is a true champ, no matter what we say or could dislike about her. I personally prefer her to Azarenka, so I'm glad if she wins, even though she stands no chance vs. Williams and despite the fact that I'll get the pick wrong.

millions would agree, but not me I'm afraid...maybe if she stopped screaming and using cheap gamesmanship tricks.

she is, but I never said I was a fan of her either, just plays better tennis than Sharapova that's why I want her to win this match.

I don't think it's the case on clay, or even on grass, I think Sharapova plays better. On hard, I agree.

Funny you picked Sharapova and want Azarenka to lose, and I'm exactly the opposite, picked the latter but want the former to win.

Davenport talking rubbish by saying neither of them played well.
Azarenka may have been a bit below her best (does not move that well on clay), but certainly not Sharapova!

Is it because of the song and its title or because of the name of the group?

Tbh I am not a fan of Serena, but my ears much more prefer her against she-wolves from the first semi. I could not watch them long time, it is against the nature to howl and squall like that

I watched the match with the headphones on and have a headache now, seriously! WTA should really do something about it, not good.

I wish we had a Serena in the mens able to do to Nadal was she is doing to Errani.
I'd enjoy that!
Federer has done it elegantly sometimes....too rarely though despite if he managed to do it 1 out of encounters (It;s not as bad as we think).

Errani is no Nadal. It is a joke that a player like Errani could be in the top ten.
Worst female player in the top ten IMO.

I can't stand stupid commentators feeling sorry for Errani and going on about Serena's power, Errani bashes the ball twice as hard....but there's a bit more to tennis skill than that!

She is simply another Nadal to me and it;s clear she copies him as much as possible. Just a bit less good at moonballing but same thing. They both play their best on clay, a surface which gives them a good chance to moonball at nausea.

Hard to believe that was world number 1 beating number 5 with that score in a slam SF.....
Commentators bringing up equal pay topic.
I have thought about it after finding out women were paid more in Madrid than men, and had the usual knee-jerk reaction, but when you think about it it's really actually the fault of the greed of ATP that's paying men less, not WTA being happy to make less profit, isn't it?

Yes, bizarre how they can;t see who is actually hitting with thinner margins. Having said that power also helps put pace and safety but is it true that serena plays 100% nat gut? If so it;s even more impressive cause she'd have much less margins even.

I don't know about the strings she uses, but it wouldn't surprise me, she has such beautiful timing and is athletic, so don't see how she would benefit from the plastic ones.

just had a look at Wilson website:
"Highest quality natural gut string used on Tour by Wilson Players - including Roger Federer, Mardy Fish, Venus and Serena Williams and many more."

Yes But Fed plays with both natgut and synth....It does help a lot. Pure Nat gut gives yuo hardly any spin....and this is why Serena plays 1990s tennis.

But I am surprised that you see Nadal much better. It's the same game. Nadal, the 7 times FO champion, was being given lessons by Brands, Klizan until they tired. At least Errani did not lose sets versus #70 players.
Watch "brave" Nadal tomorrow and see him him scrap right and left with fear of Djoko pulling a winner.

Despite her size? She has a male 100m sprinter's build in a best of 3 sets universe. How could she not have that much more time on the ball?
I watched the first game of the Azapova match and gave up. Noise levels offensive beyond belief. . . can't help but feel they both need therapy to undo the damage done by the sociopathic need to win. . . despite that seeming at odds with being a professional sports person and the concomitant financial rewards.
It's a lunatic's game.

Well he won but failed to serve twice for the match in the 4th.....how mentally strong is that? Djoko lost this match much more than Nadal won it.
