Amazing the number of balls Djoko brings back which woudl never come back against any other player bar Nadal and Murray maybe...but he has pushed it a degree further.

If this retrieving is not key in his game....I am not sure what it. He is playing well tonight and is quite aggressive but despite that he could have easily lost that first set if it was not for those amazing scrapping skills.

Now is the crucial test for Dimi...serving for the first set. In the past he has failed but I feel today his confidence is higher so I think he shoudl close it out...not the match just the set.

And I was right. Despite losing his serve it was not down to choking but amazing retrieving skills from Djoko. And was proven right when from 4/1 down in the TB he came back to win 86 in the TB....despite Djoko throwing the lung rallies (35shots!!!!).

We are seeing the new number 1. Just a question of months.

Dimi dictating from teh back of the court making Djoko run. Djoko looks tired now.

Of course Nadal, except maybe for RG, this year though I think he'd rather play Nadal anytime than some of those heavy hitters as it is more predictable, especially on clay it seems Nole knows that if he plays well, it should be straight set affair to beat Nadal, at least for the best of 3...

Are you watching Sphair? Very impressive Dimi. Saving many BPs and able to pull great FH winners from all corners....though he tries to stay in rallies and not give too many UEs.

Bold prediction! But i do hope you're right. I agree it seems this is more than just a first round match. Dimi is now scaring the top players like Djoko did 6 years ago. Things are shifting

I would say he's top 8 material for this year. Maybe in 2 years time he'll have a change to really set his mark.

Spaniards are not just the biggest cheats and dopers in the history of sport but lowest of the low booing an injured player.

The main difference is his belief ...though once again he loses a game roght after having broken! It has happened many times recently.

I think he is stay injury free he will easily reach top 10 by Wimbledon.

Yes but it's also footwork. Lightness and I agree that lightness is helped by muscles but Fed always looked light on his feet without having too big thighs. Dimi is nopt quite in that league (Fed/Borg) when it comes to footwork.

I think the rules are absurd. Dimi gets a time warning for cramping but Djoko can take a whole MTO between points.

Something needs to be sorted here.

What I have always said is that if you want a MTO, you give up the game.

It's because Grigor ran more than Novak in the first set, the court coverage stat showed he covered over 2km, Nole 1.7km.

Contrary to popular belief, it's he that is doing the running in this match which is why he is cramping now.
