Delpo is far from having won that match. Nadal is still there breathing on his neck.

good thing is Delpo knows it and won't choke. He has great belief in his game just doesn't show it in a very obvious way. Nadal will really have to earn it.
Delpo just needs to watch his serve and be focused there till the very end.

It's a close call NITB about the court suiting Delpo better than Nadal. I don't think so. This is in my view Nadal's best court on tour. There he has both the very slow conds and can use his footwork best .

On clay he would not have that quick footing and it woudl give Delpo a bigger target.
This court suits Delpo surely better than Nadal. Delpo's bigger body will struggle on clay much more than Nadal's.

Delpo needs to silence the Rafa fans. They sound like historical drama queens. If Nadal gets back tehy will be very noisy.

The thing is even if Nadal does lots of running he also forces his opponent to do his fair share and Delpo gets tired.

I hope Delpo can still go for more and force Nadal to do most of teh running....tough ask though.

The reason Nadal is attacking more is that he knows now that he cannot do the running with on 25s in between points so he has to take more risk.

Nadal may look more aggressive than usual, yet he's so far behind the baseline and still cover all corners.. it's bizar.
To me he looks fitter than Djoko yesterday, isn't that strange?

Yes, it's bizarre but he is very much helped by the ball sitting up like no other court.

Certainly much fitter than Djoko. No-one can cover so much ground and hit that hard at the same time for such long rallies.

He came back with a (physical) statement. And I don;t know if you heard about this antidoping passport thing but that will give him all the green lights needed to follow his doping regimen. It will consider this form we are seeing now as "normal" in his passport.

No other court (inless they start to repaint them all for him) will check as much as this one. You will see that takes a lot of teh pace and comfort from Nadal's opponent while fitting perfectly Ndal's game.

I unfortunately fear that all the other courts will try to help him like they did in teh past.

Yes, microdosing actually makes the biopassport work towards the dopers as they have a target they have to stay under and try to maintain even levels, which is easily controllable. The dopers are so far ahead of the testers, especially in tennis, it's almost like an invitation.
It's more effective in cycling as your pcv levels need to be higher to compete.

And I maintain that this is exactly what teh sport organisations want cause this way they can wash their hands and not be under the spotlight like they were in teh LA or Agassi case. They cover themselves and quiten the doping rumours to the masses.

Great match, congratulations to DelPo for his perfect performance. DelPo a bit similar as Berd in the second set did not serve out the match. This Nadal is a strong favorite for clay season. No wonder is he takes all 3 clay Master + RG.

I really don't think it was mental at all. Nadal made him run too and he had pretty tough 1/4 and semi. He was very tired actually.

And we are done - all is back to normal; Nadal unlikely to be out of top 10 come Wimbledon Winking

Some of the recent quotes from this forum - sometimes it is hard to believe you guys are serious:

Let's be honest, at least 10 players could beat him easily on
hard courts right now.
Do people really see Nadal coiming back? I really don't. His
clay season is going to be everything and I doubt he will be able to train as
much and as hard....and even if he does...he game is obsolete now.
As expected Nadal will not play in IW and Miami. He focuses
just on clay. He has come to the conclusion that he is an easy mouthful for
Nole.
I still think he won't play, he just doesn't have the guts
to face a loss there before the rest of clay season. There are too many good
hard-courters that couldn't wait to wipe the floor with him atm.
They know that now Morybundus does not have a chance to win anything on hard
courts, so from now on there will be only diseases and excuses.

I agree he played well today but I don;t think RG will be as slow as IW. I stick to Nadal not winning half of his clay TMS...especially if Murray and Djoko are on.

Not a chance. Nadal will streamroll through the clay season winning all or most of the tournaments including RG. Murray has a 10% chance of beating Nadal on clay and Djokovic a 25% chance, especially at RG. Maybe Djokovic can win a clay tune-up if he plays very well but the majority of the clay tournaments will be won by Nadal. Book it and we can look back on this and see how I did.

Oh SB Hug , this is what any tennis forum is all about.Talking, discussing speculating and predicting. No one knows the future, so its all guess work. We sometimes make wishful thinking. Sometimes it comes out right and other times totally rubbish. This is all the fun about a tennis-forum. Thumbs Up

Okay lets book it.

BC : Nadal will win RG and atleast 2/3 Clay masters.
Tenez: Nadal won't win RG

About the IW final. It was a good match. Delpo played well, only couldn't keep up that level especially in the 3rd set. In the 3rd set Nadal didn't give him a sniff on his own serve. Attacked well and defended superbly. He definitely looked the better player, but only just though that's all what often separates winners from losers in tennis. Al-in-all it was a good match and I enjoyed it. Perhaps Delpo could be tired after his difficult QF and SF matched. But its a good tournament for him in any case. He defeated #3 and #1 and ran Nadal close. I see him doing better in the upcoming months.

I'm also glad Nadal is back in top-4, this Ferru guy was making the draw too imbalanced.

Right I claim ownership of those two and I must say Nadal has fooled me again cause I thought he may have been injured. Despite all my talking about Nadal's fake injuries and being convinced there was a silent ban...when I saw him play on clay the first week, I certainly believed there was something wrong with his knee. Clearly he was taking the piss faking to have mouvement problems. (that's where he got me again)

So yes he came back quicker than I thought he would (injured or not). He may have had inflammed knee ligament for having played too much from Jan 12 to Wimby 12 as you woudl expect from all other players having played as much but let's face it, nothing else. His knees were perfectly fine all the way. You cannot have knee issues sidelining you for 8 months and then come back within a month better than you left.

Having said all that I would like to point the following:

1 - Delpo (the new(er) generation) is coming and taking over. Others will follow suit. (24 is the new 20). Before he got tired, woudl you not agree that he had more trouble with Djoko and Murray than he had with Nadal? I cannot see Murray or Djoko losing 8 out of 9 games to him. A fresher Djoko woudl have finished him off 61 63 and that would have been it regarding Nadal compared to Murray and Djoko. I say 61 cause Delpo was really stiff from his last matches and only played real tennis after loosening up from 0/3 down.

2- The courts were by far favouring Nadal. I am sure Nadal will not be able to move as well on clay and the ball from Delpo will skid off much more on clay. Clay is considerably faster than IW...unless of course they serve it up with teddy bear balls like they did at teh last FO.

3 - The draw. Larry is a business man...a very good one I 'll grant him that...and he knows everything you want to know about software including how to tweak a draw software. Sure it is a possible coincidence but once again if you wanted to get Nadal to the business end of a tournement cause you (the TD), and the crowd love Nadal, then you would certainly put Federer, Ferrer, and Berdych on his side and Murray, Djoko and Delpo on the other....woudl not you? Sure another piece of luck maybe...but I just wonder how many times we will see that piece of luck this year.
