Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Apparently, Murray can take number two spot if he reaches the final and Federer fails to reach the SF.

A customised draw designed by Larry Ellison for his friends Nadal and Federer..but Nadal in particular.

I'm pretty sure he will play better as it is a master after all and he won it last year, so he'll be more motivated (he still did better at Dubai than Rotterdam after all) but I cannot really see him past Nadal in the QF unfortunately

berankis was thumped 6-1 6-2 in qualifying by pospisil and the ukranian drama queen stakhovsky was served up a bagel to complain about 6-4 6-0

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Good time for predictions.
The draw is ridiculously tailored for Nadal and his QF is given him as a gift from Larry. So, these who have a fancy for Fed with Nadal can celebrate. I expect that Nadal will run as never so if Fed has a chance then he needs serve well. Otherwise no chance that he can hit through him from BL.
Djokovic vs Murray looks to be also quite probable. So my prediction for final is Nole with Morybundus and the winner is nobody else but Nole
Worth matches to watch for 2nd round is Gasquet with Tomic. If Tomic can go through Gasquet then I give him a fair chance against Berdych in the possible 3 rd round and also against Feru in QF. Rao should play in 3rd round with Tsonga. So, youngsters have a chance here in BO3, so let's see how the will do.

That's a double OUCH!
I've heard that Pospisil is good but haven't seen him. Shame for Berankis, I still hope he can regroup and not sink. He was so good in AO.
Strakh......if ever there was a proof of a need of a brain in tennis, he is one! I love watching him play, though.
Gulbis playing Rochus in qualies later today.

Something wrong obviously with Berankis. He was hammering everybody in the AO...even got Murray into trouble. Mind or body I dunno but something is bothering him.luvsports! wrote:berankis was thumped 6-1 6-2 in qualifying by pospisil and the ukranian drama queen stakhovsky was served up a bagel to complain about 6-4 6-0

Why is Gulbis still going through Qualif? He is 60 something last I checked. What ranking does qualif start?

Tenez, it all depends on when the rankings were considered for the draw and that I am not sure. The thing is, he is 67 this week, coming up 42 places from last week, so had the rankings been done considered as of last week, he'd be 109 and as such is a qualifier...

According to this Gulbis was ranked #67 in ATP and seeded #1 in qualifying. (Look at the bottom of the pdf file).
PS: http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2013/404/mds.pdf main draw has Donskoy at #82 as the last direct acceptance at IW. Also this - http://www.bnpparibasopen.com/Players/Player-Landing.aspx

Re: ATP 1000: Indian Wells
Thanks for your replies you two. So it's still strange that a #82 doesn't have to qualify when a recognised nber 67 has.
Do we know where teh winners are going to be fitted in to the draw? Or is it again done "randomly"?

And as per usual from Dollarland, no streams for anything until half into the tournament.
I'm so glad their tennis is where it is now. They don't deserve any better.

what do you think of his new/newish forehand tenez, it looks kinda odd. Reminds me a bit of soderling's outstretched army forehand.

And Blake beats Haase in 2 sets and at 33 playing great! Forehand booming as ever, and a roar to celeberate the victory.
Amazing difference in styles old vs the new.
Blake playing Tsonga in the next round. Should be fun.
Elsewhere, Davy def. HPM
Here, NITB bids you all a good night and sweet dreams

I'd love to see Blake back....but maybe not at the expense of Tsonga.
I'll try to see a bit of tennis tonight...if I catch something interesting.
Gasquet Tomic shoudl be fun....but maybe not as much as Harrison Nadal...is that the "old"Harrison?

Some really strange results tonight.
Nalby losing to JJ, Simon coming back from 1/5 down (according to NITB), Nieminen thrashing Verdasco etc...
But I feel more strange results are yet to come....Harrison v Nadal....That shoudl be interesting.
