It was a boring match indeed. I actually enjoyed the women's final much more.

I'm going to pass comments on the tennis bit later after I've seen some of the replay. But, yeah, agree in principle, for sure, which is why I only saw very few games to start with.
Tennis needs to return to its all-court roots.
Nole's closer to it than Murray, hence my joy

I know that Nole with Fed is by far better matchup, but there will appear some new players who will replace Murray in final. His body is not built for such heavy fights.
Be happy for Nole´s fight with Stan, that was really great performance and who knows, we can see them both in next their encounter at GS again.

i was probably more gutted stan lost than feds 2bh, but just shows how hard it is to beat nole on the hard courts. kudos

If that had been written about Djokovic/Nadal finals that I would totally agree but Murray/Djokovic rivalry is far more compelling cause theres actually some serious ball striking skill displayed, rather then just players mimicking golden retrievers
Cheer up luvsports...think about it....enjoy it while it lasts cause things could be far worse

Re: The snore fest of the 2013 aussie open final
You cant really criticise someones opinion and what youre saying about the variety and some styles becoming extinct is true
Theres not much difference between grass and clay tennis anymore which kinda takes some of the prestige of winning a slam on either surface away.what does it mean to be a wimbledon or RG champion when you cant even be compared to previous winners
As much as Im against it,times change, things evolve,I guess this is the way forward and the future for now, which is why we should embrace change so that when they finally realise what a mess they made of it,they can change it back again

Re: The snore fest of the 2013 aussie open final
ok, finally got to read your piece LS.
Contents -wise, an improvement on everything I had to read before from you.
Stylistically, your command of English could be more sophisticated, try and read some classics to improve vocab and sentence structure.
Nice you have introduced yourself as a pair of eyes in the text, that's the way to go.
Don't be afraid to show passion.

as we speak im reading the importance of being earnest.
its just perfection at times.
"you seem to me to be in every way the visible personification of absolute perfection"
sometimes words go clumsily alongside each other, but this is just beautiful as words are delicately placed one after another.
Love it

No probs
Anthony Powell is probably the most boring novelist under the sun, but is brilliant for descriptive vocabulary.

Re: The snore fest of the 2013 aussie open final
I agree the final was a snore fest. Djokovic though was the aggressor and had a lot of winners and UEs, great improvement on his part compared to his near loss vs. Stan The Man, who was the aggressor/better player on the day, despite the loss. So glad Nole won it as he deserved it more. As I am in the US though, I totally understand your frustration in waking up early just to watch that final as I woke up at 4 am that morning (your 9 am) and was truly hoping to see both being aggressive, Murray was no though, not in any way close to how aggressive he was vs. Fed, shame for Fed really, but since some time during his Tsonga match he never seemed to have his movement, bad back? Who knows. But Fed without his serve and movement still managed to beat Tsonga and push Murray to 5 sets and that on its own is impressive. If Fed is physically at his best in the coming months, we can still expect great things from the great man! Fed!
