Only the Super TB format saved him.
--- It doesn't work that way. Had the format not been in place, the entire match would have been different. Check chaos theory. If you alter even the tiniest detail the entire chain is changed. And this isn't a tiny detail.

No, you're being an idiot. Nadal has no-one to challenge him on the dirt and almost never has (meaning a slam in the pocket every season) - along with the slow ass courts and balls all favouring his gutless style of tennis. Djokovic hasn't a prayer of winning all 4 slams. He couldn't even do it at his peak.
Hope Kyrgios wins and plays Nadal. At his best, he'll put the time wasting cheat to bed.

Good point. For example, at 5-4, if it was a first to 7 Milman may have got nervous earlier (like he eventually did at 8-4), and Federer could have come back.Daniel2 wrote:Only the Super TB format saved him.

Nadal is finished, he has no chance of winning another slam. No one is there to stop Djokovic. Tsitsipas is a flop. If Thiem played Djokovic in a Grand Slam final he would get nervous and lose. I thought Federer has a chance at Wimbledon, but his performance today isn't a great indicator.

When Fed gets to 5 in a slam nowadays, you can be sure he loses in the next round or so.
Did not watch but he said he came here with little expectations. he probably knows why.

Rafa looking very good here, even if helped by Carreno-Busta's poor performance.
Top half of the draw with many more good players than bottom half. After today, Rafa could quite possibly face only pretty tough opponents.

Indeed, in fact our culture has its true roots in the Angles and Saxons who came from Denmark. The Vikings then chipped in.Tenez wrote:Don't forget BB, your island has been invaded by all European conquerors almost. The Romans of course occupied this island for 400 years. A mighty force indeed, though my own theory is that they overdid the use of their lead pipe supplied baths which affected them, turning them into Italians. The rest is history.
It’s worth recognising that the Normans themselves were descended from the same bunch of Scandinavians. The true Gauls were never a trouble
We were recently invaded and occupied by the Germans but in true Brit style we have overcome. This time we’ve even done it by appointment - 31st January 2020!
Kudos for the phone number! I’d personally go for 1415 but it doesn’t have the same recognition factor.

What a match Korgi-Kacha, 4:26 minutes, won on 5th TB 10:8 while being down 8:7 and Kacha with 2 serves.
Sure Korgi had a MP in 3rd set TB but lost his neve next 2 sets

Re: Australian Open - 2020
Tournament starting in earnest now. Very interesting mix of younger and older players. Other than Fed's quarter, all the remaining sections full of good players. Especially top half is packed. Monfils is probably the weakest link there and he is pretty good himself.
Rafa and Nole will get their first serious opponents. Especially Rafa has been cruising so far. He dropped fewest games thus far and is one of four players (with Zverev, Raonic and Schwartzman) to drop a set yet.
Is Zverev finally going to break through in a slam? How far will Rublev advance?
Medvedev, more than any other youngster, seems to have figured out how to consistently beat weaker players. He does not get into as many long matches with no name players as Zverev or Thiem or others tend to do.
From what little I have seen so far, it looks like it is possible to hit through this court. Could be interesting rest of the tournament.

Re: Australian Open - 2020
Watch that last game of Federer today. He is leading 2 breaks up and still struggles to serve out the match cause he is knackered. His mouvement was poor and as a consequence his FH is not reliable.
A very similar situation to those many MPs he lost to Djokovic. He relaxes slightly due to exhaustion and hopes to close the match rather than keep the same intensity. It's not nerves but can quickly become nerves if those MPs are missed.

Very impressive win from Roger. Was outclassed in the first set but upped the level at the start of the second and disrupted Fucsovics’ baseline game by mixing it up. Fucsovics’ level dropped after that and a straightforward win.
Movement and fitness look superb but will need to improve his baseline game for later challenges.

Federer: "I don;t do ice, I don;t do "chamber" whatever that is either..." .
That's my man! An honest tennis player. Like we don't see them at the very top unfortunately.
O2/egg Chamber is legal cheating.
Federer: "Night conds are very slow!" Perfect conditions for a Nadal Djoko v.951

Re: Australian Open - 2020
Nadal might have to potentially go through Kyrgios - Thiem - Medvedev - Djokovic.
If all of them make it that far, I do not think he will do it:
He will probably beat Kyrgios, and would probably beat Thiem too. But he would likely lose to Medvedev and would get obliterated by Nole (perhaps worse than last year).
But if Rafa does have to meet all of them, and he proves me wrong by beating them all, hats off to him, that would be very impressive indeed.

Underarm serve from Monfils (almost an ace) wins him the game.
But overall it has been all Thiem thus far.

Wawrinka pulling out Medvedev in 5. The BO5 format brings the best in him. He has room to change gears without running out of time.

True, Stan in good form, some superb shots, making Medvedev look subpar which he mostly is with his boring game and not a single wow element to his game.
Now lets hope Kyrgios can kick some ass.

And what does he use?Tenez wrote:Federer: "I don;t do ice, I don;t do "chamber" whatever that is either..." .
Because he must be using something to be able to outlast a fitter, 6 year younger Djokovic in that Wimbledon final last year...and Nadal back in AO final 2017....and Millman the other day...
Must be Mirka's hand massage and potato rosti for breakfast!
Reflected glory? That evolution theory of yours is painfully slow.Tenez wrote:That's my man!

You sound as if he is some kind of tennis Jesus. Federer honest? The only honest thing about that man is his insatiable lust for money.
Tenez wrote:O2/egg Chamber is legal cheating.
If the egg chamber helps a player recover and is not causing long (or any) health damage, then why not? Certainly better than the equally legal cheating of taking 20 brufen pills every day back in Steffi Graf's days...
And yet it's exactly those conditions that kept him in this tournament. He would've been out had he played Millman in the heat.Tenez wrote:Federer: "Night conds are very slow!" Perfect conditions for a Nadal Djoko v.951
As always, Federer gets preferential treatment.
From that point, I am glad Nole got night conds vs Raonic. Every little helps.

I wrote a post about films earlier and it did occur to me that I must have watched "Unbreakable" about 6 times, which is really a waste of time.... until I realised there are people out there excited about watching the same match-ups playing the same boring styles for 50+ times.

A bit like Dustin Brown, except that Dustin's game is gutsier and much more enjoyable to watch.
Just like Tomic, Kyrgios is a waste of talent.

However, Kyrgios has a close H2H with Nadal and it is not for no reason.
Right in this match, Kyrgios has netted several easy BHs. That is only because of his nerves.

No connotations, but a Global brand the USP of which was that every doll was technically unique. And looks like Greta Thunberg.
I well remember cabbage patch kids and the stupid hysteria about them when I was young and the whole saga about them being 'born' somewhere outdoors. Hence my care to write 'wittingly or not'. To me, describing Greta as looking like a slightly moon-faced children's doll has always been a bit close to the knuckle. You may think that desperately over-sensitive, but even so, it's not a brilliant response to say, 'the personal insult I intended by my epithet for a 17-yr-old girl with aspergers was slightly different to the one you thought might come across.'
She looks like one of them. Doesn't mean she's retarded or even ugly, she just looks like one of them. I couldn't care less if she's got Aspergers, she spends all her life wandering around trying to screw up how I get to live my life and calling people all sorts of bad things while basking in the adulation of cretins. Frankly, remarking on her moon face is nothing compared to the harm she's trying to do to others and the sheer arrogance of her behaviour.
We are in basic agreement about Greta, I am merely suggesting that you weaken your otherwise strong points by stooping to a potentially ambiguous ad hominem. As your post shows, there are plenty of very powerful points that can be pungently put attacking her views which give her defenders much less easy cover than an ad hominem.

I think Margaret Court is currently a ridiculous figure with some unattractive views, but I am enjoying how the woke folk in the WTA and at the AO are tying themselves in knots over whether and how to acknowledge the undoubted fact of her past prowess as a tennis player.
Take it up with Him, she's just doing what she's been told.
Again we agree - I said a 'ridiculous' person with 'unattractive' views, not a 'bad' person. I won't be taking it up with an entity which is a figment of her fevered imagination. She is merely one example of religious types whose overwhelming concern seems to be matters sexual - like the absurd recent pronouncement on civil partnerships by CoE Bishops. I don't doubt that like them she thinks she's carrying out an ordained duty. If only they could see it, some of her 'woke' critics also verge on the ridiculous with the contortions they get themselves into.
