Nadal when on the court...otherwise he doesn't play. I'd say he is even 120%.

Except 120% doesn't exist. Learn what per cent means (the clue is in "cent"). And, no, no-one is at their very best when deep into a tournament. Ever.

Think Nadal has a point. What exactly are women bringing to the table and beyond? Reasonable question. Though I wish he'd grasp English more. Every sentence ends with no or don't know!

It's painful reading it let alone listening to it.

Yep, the WTA want more joint events because (a) the men’s tour generates more revenue and (b) having joint events means they can shout “equality” and leverage more money. Doesn’t take a genius to follow and I wouldn’t be fussed about having more joint events if I was a male player.legendkillar wrote:DEC1M7 wrote:Some journalists not happy with Nadal's comments on equal pay, comparing it to Federer's reply

Re: Aus open prediction game: Day 7
The WTA would like to haul itself up by the ATP's bootstraps - they'd gain more money for their events with the ATP's greater popularity and their players would have the same amount of prize money.
If the men are happy with that then go ahead, I'd understand why some would cavil. Taking a wider view, it's worth remembering that the ATP won't always be the more popular version of the sport, and that tennis does have a fairly unique selling point of being a non-contact fitness-based sport that provides an opportunity for men and women to enjoy playing mixed doubles as well as single-sex singles and doubles - it's obviously not as competitive, but sports need a big base of participants to support the top pro's at the apex of the pyramid. The professional bodies might help wider-scale participation in their sport in the longer-term by promoting more joint tournaments, and maybe even a bit more mixed doubles....?
