Mens SF - USO2018

Post by Jahu on Fri Sep 07, 2018 9:27 pm

Nadal-Delpo (insert random number)

Djokovic-Nishikori (...)

==================

Delpo breaks immediately, Nadal starts dropshots, meaning he is insecure on rally for now.

Come Delpooo, crush himmmmm

The shot clock would typically penalise Nadal against any player... Except against Delpo who probably needs more time than anyone.

Finally!!! Set 1 taken, Nadal going home tonight, bar any injury from Delpo, though Nadal setup a little doctor thingy earlier as a reason if he quits soon.

If Nadal loses I fancy Nishis chance... I know it is not related but Niski will be a tough o e tonight. I said Delpo would have a good chance v Nadal.

Yeah, almost perfunctory on serve. He’s trying but just hotting to keep points short.

Really? So Thiem killed him after all. That s what happens when forced to play long 5 setters rallies with 1h less breathing time.

Just got home - was expecting to watch set #3 but alas!  Commiserations to Rafa fans.

That means I can now give full-throated support to Nishi.  Hopefully he cuts Nole into pieces.  I only saw a few point from Nole vs Millman, but it looked to me like Nole was again happy to engage in infinite rallies, so Nishi will need to find a way to get around that.

In terms of Rafa vs Fed slam chase, 2018 will have been a good year for Fed in the end.  Rafa is no closer to him than he was this time last year, but he has one less year to make up the ground.

At this point, I see Fed as a warm favorite to finish ahead of Rafa.

The question there is how Djokovic is but especially how Thiem develops. He’s got the potential to be a proper monster and outmuscle even Nadal.
