ATP 250: Vienna, Stokholm, Kremlin Cup
And now something you've all been waiting for eagerly, the ATP 250 events week!
Forget about Roger and his 300 weeks as a number one, I invite you to join me in the less flashy and media visited room, where the rest of the best usually play and show off their skill without being dwarfed by the top 4 players.
For where else could you see Benoit Paire or Michail Youzhny walk proudly onto the tennis court announced as finalists....
Now that you are all fully persuaded, let me introduce the three tournaments, all indoors, all in beautiful European locations:
ERSTE BANK OPEN (what an unimaginative name for a tournament!) played in Vienna
Indoor , hard.
Once upon a time, Novak Djokovic won one of his first trophies here, erste Bank being one of his very few sponsors. How things have changed.....
The 28 field very strong, still: Del Potro, Tipsarevic, Haas, Melzer, Fognini, Haase, Paire , Gulbis, GG Lopez, Young
The Draw:

Order Of Play (updated daily):
http://www.atpworldtour.com/posting/2012/337/op.pdf
STOKHOLM OPEN
indoor, hard
Another good bunch of players: Tsonga, Berdych, Almagro, F. Mayer, Lopez, Youzhny,Baghdatis, Monfils, Strakhovski, Anderson, Hewitt, Goffin, Baker, Nieminen
The Draw:

KREMLIN CUP, Moscow
Indoor, hard (mixed tournament)
Dolgopolov, Troicki, Davydenko, Seppi, Bellucci, Rosol The Great, Istomin, Berlocq, Ito

Quite a few players from these three draws will be fighting for the remaining few spots in the last 8 (10) at the WTF .
Let the party begin, dance away guys, choose your step and partner carefully

Update time!
Another unexciting day has passed on the 250 event week, we are all waiting for the less familiar names to disappear from the order of play,
well it's Friday tomorrow, so it's about time they did .
Before we look at the juicy match-ups of tomorrow:
In Moscow: Dolgopolov managed to lose to Vasselin in the third set tie-break. Karlovic (bt Bogomolov who beat Davydenko yesterday) Bellucci, Janowicz and Seppi through.
IN Stokholm: Tsonga, Strakhovski, Baghdatis (bt Falla) and Berdych through.
IN Vienna: Tipsarevic beat Gulbis in straight sets, Hass records his 500th tour win.
Tomorrow:
Rosol plays Jaziri
Vasselin Karlovic
Hewitt-Almagro (who is keen to book his place in WTF)
Tsonga-Strakhovski (pick of the day)
&
Youzhny-Berdych

Strakh would definitely benefit from a bit of work on his forehand....and footwork, he'd be fabulous!

Yes. He is a nice player. Tsonga is all about power and his shots are not very smooth.

You're right. His soft hands at the net are deceptive, but when you watch him against Strakh, you can see what clean game Strakh plays compared to Tsonga.

Starkh saves 5 match points on his serve, Tsonga serving for the match.
Very nice match played in good spirit, both players happy and light-hearted on the court, lovely to see.

And Tsonga wins, does his happy dance, crowd happy, too. Playing Baghdatis in the semis tomorrow.
I hope Strakh's two wins in Stokholm leave him with some change after paying for the flight and hotel and I do hope he moves up the ranking, I don't know how he ended up being 99th right now.

Soft hands are actually about very strong arms. Certainly helps.

Berd Youzhny playing at 7 PM. Another DBH SBH duel, should be interesting how Dr Misha handles the in-form Berd.

He also moves well for his size. He is an interesting player with some clear, though simple strengths, yet a very fragile game. With his booming serve and forehand, he looks perfectly poised to play S&V game, but chooses to stay back on the base line.

Re: ATP 250: Vienna, Stokholm, Kremlin Cup
Will Youzhny's heroic efforts and excellent battling from the base-line be enough for getting him to the third set? 5 all.

Tsonga through to Stokholm final after Baghdatis retires being 2:5 down in the 3rd set
On course to play Berd who seems to be in a hurry to dispatch Almagro and his WTF dreams.
In Vienna, Delpo who squeezed past Muller in two tight tie-breaks, awaits winner of Tipsarevic-Zemlja who are just starting for those who are interested in watching them.

Re: ATP 250: Vienna, Stokholm, Kremlin Cup
Well, well, well!
Gerga Zemlja from Slovenia anyone?
those of you who wondered why he was given wild-card to Wimbledon and some more "worthy" others were not, well, the good old boys in Wimbers must have spotted the potential, for Grega beat Tipsarevic in three sets today (who was VERY motivated as he is fighting for a spot in WTF) and will be playing Delpo in his first final tomorrow.
I don't know why, but I always get extremely happy and excited when a player comes out of nowhere and makes a final like that. Just look at the field of players he left behind who all wanted to be where he is now.
Well done Grega, and be of good courage tomorrow
P.S.
IN Moscow final:
Bellucci - Seppi
(Bellucci beat Karlovic, and Seppi Jaziri)

Same here. I am then very curious to see his game. I kind of imagine him play something never seen before.

Tsonga-Berdy is my pick for the day. Its going to be a good match as both are playing well ( Berdych a bit better though) . Berdych absolutely nailed Almagro. Tsonga had his struggles against Baggy.

Grega Delpo 5 all in the first set. Stiff DBH, nice service motion and a much better forehand.
