I actually thought he was bluffing it during the second set...when Cecchi had him on the ropes.

The question is just who bluffs more....

If there is any hope it lies with Delpo.
Crafty enough to lead 2 sets to love to Cecchi...and he has beaten Nadal before on clay.

I fear Delpo's mouvement and weak BH will be too much to beat Nadal.
not crafty enough, just doped enough.
If this is what it takes to beat Nadal....so be it! Cool
But he won't beat Nadal.
He only beat him in Madrid because of fast clay. And here in RG clay is very Nadal-friendly.
No, Thiem will have his best chance if it's slow and damp. Nadal actually attacks very hard on clay (in the style of a clay courter) and the bounce is everything.

this is about to start

I am nervous

if nadal is to lose today, I cant imagine two players I would be more happy about if they win: Thiem and Delpo

The rare time when you see Rafa hit a deep fh volley... he gets very lucky.
Anyone who says he is the best volleyer in the game, is deluded.

Amazing how Nadal saves another 3 BPs. one floating volley ending up on the line and and Delpo's FH clipping the net.....if that is not luck what is it then?

Agreed - having watched him live at Wimbledon I was impressed by the softness of his hands and his willingness/ability to use angles and vary the pace.  That said, his use of volleys is almost invariably to finish points rather than as an aggressive tactic during the course of the point.  Far too many modern players even look uncomfortable coming up to the net to finish a point - Nadal is emphatically not one of them.

Not watching, but DelPo often looks tired in the warm up. Look up languid in the dictionary and there's a picture of JMDP.

Easier when you have such strong arms. Much harder if you have to time the swing of the racquet.

Yeah...another floating BH landing on the line. It's weird how he finds hims 6 BPs down considering he plays all points the same as if it was the most important point...but somehow manages to save them all. Yet...delpo hasn't got that luck.

ffs - Nadal hardly ever loses a match once he's won the first set.  Feels like RG final 2007 - Federer had loads of bp's that he could not convert, del Boy has 0/6 and Nadal converts 1/2.

Playing LHS to receive in the advantage court is real advantage for him.

Listening on the radio - what a horrible noise, not quite as bad as the women, whose shrieking is more piercing, but very unattractive nonetheless.  Every shot too.

I now hate Chatrier because of Nadal.

It's become a cauldron in which he tortures his victims.
The odious grunting just adds spice to it....

1 - He will recover from the injury quickly. I think it is clear his groin injury returned.

2- He can blame himself for that. He is playing the same game as the 3 road runners but has not a body shape for it.

Not very smart!...but then again, pulling winner on this court....is very difficult.

Nadal - baboon
Delpo - sad giraffe
Anderson - ostrich
Goffin- little fox

Anyone with any other?
