Watching Dzumi-Zverev, 4th set TB,
go Dzumi! diva

Chatrier about 30% full...

Zverev wins the TB, 2 sets all.

Will he outgrind Dzumhur like he did Lajovic?
Dzumhur is weaponless but consistent and light, could be interesting.

Switching to Nole-Agut.

Nolel a set and a break up.

Too much grunting and groaning, esp from Agut...switching to Nishi-Simon, I need some elegant shot-making!
Actually, I'll stay with this till the set ends.

So, Dimi out in straight sets to Verdasco.

I like both, esp Nando's crazy FH, but feel sorry for Dimi. It looks like that 5 set SF in AO17 he lost to Nadal killed stg in him. Rose

Nole is playing well as Gutty is a first class counterpuncher, and it's interesting to see a slight lack of confidence still there.

Once that's back, Nadal won't stand a chance.

Mind you, he is doubling over for air after a longish, relatively low-energy rally...

2nd set TB.
Nole fails to convert 3 set points.
Really, the only thing missing is the confidence. And what a difference that is making!
It's the wind in his back that used to give him 30% speed/power to his shots.

Nole misses a sitter FH for the set point and pulverises the racquet.
One set all.
over to Dzumi-Zverev, Zverev serving to stay in the match, several  deuces already.

Come oooon Dzumiii! tennisball

As I type this it's 5:5, I think I shall finally switch over to Simon-Nishi...haven't seen Gillou for ages!

Aaaaah.....so good to see Gillou again!

Nishi playing really, really well...because he is not facing any steroid weight-lifters and can play freely.

Nishi serving for the match, Gillou sving MPs.... clinging to it with his nails...crowd in the zone, great fun!

In the meantime, Zverev grinds out another much lower ranked player in 5 sets.

Horrible.

A massive donkey of his size to be playing like a sissy....

He is just too nervous. His BH is simply not solid enough to sustain long rallies on clay.

Cool!
I was just going to watch now, was following the scores as I was busy printing my ticket etc for Monday.

Good of him to battle through this match, it will mean a lot for his confidence.

I know, but he used to be better in the past on clay...I still think he's hit some dark place within himself and is now going through the motions.

It's just confidence low...but a confidence problem due to lack of consistency on his BH.

From the little I saw I still think his shots have less pace than 2016.

From what I ve seen, Djokovic in the final is very realistic

Not just for Nole´s level, which I think wont reach his top, but for what I see from thiem, goffin, zverev...

Verdasco is very irregular, but if he is on his day, Nole will have to be careful

But also some key youngsters such as Rublev or Chung missing probably due to injury makes the field so weak this year.

It is weak cause Djoko, Federer, and Murray got the better of Nadal recently. Even if federer has not met Nadal on clay he would certainly be a threat and pretty open considering Nadal has not taken a set off Federer in their last 3 matches and has not even got more than 4 games per set in their last 7 sets!

He is going to keep his record of no Slam QF absolutely intact. 2 back-2-back 5 setters in opening rounds.. He will have 0 chance against Nadal( or whoever) even if he scraps his way to to the finals.

His b03 record is highly misleading.

He is, isn't he?  smiley Unblemished.  Spotless.  Never fails to fail.

But we need him.  So I will choose to believe that the saved MP will be the turning point in his career.  He will go from here to claim his maiden Slam.
