better make it 20

Toni Nadal is confident in his nephew's abilities—really confident. Speaking on a Spanish radio station, Rafael Nadal's uncle suggested that Rafael Nadal will definitely reach the Roger Federer's record 19 Grand Slams.
"We will get to Federer’s 19, yes...I think it will happen," he said. "It’s difficult, but there is some more Roland Garros and I am confident other titles will come."
"When he was 12, 13 or 14, you never think he will get to this level," Toni Nadal added. "We are very happy that he has won another Grand Slam, his 16th, and is in a position to fight for No. 1.
"It was unimaginable that would happen, of course. But I had faith that Rafael would win one more Grand Slam, I tell you truthfully."

Awful obsessed prick like his nephew. Also, relying on no opposition on clay is a lamo victory.

What a tragedy it would be if the record were to be composed of something like 15 on one surface and 6 spread over the rest.

For the good of the sport Federer needs to put another two on top. A stronger field on clay wouldn’t hurt either.

I disagree.  Why is a more uniform spread better than a more lopsided one?  More uniformity implies certain well-rounded-ness, but 15 on one surface would imply greater dominance.  Not clear one is better than the other.

Mainly, let's hope Fed remains ahead of Rafa.

Would it not be great if Fed's final GS win came after Rafa's/Nole's/Andy's?

It would be stupid because what it really means is massive dominance of one aspect of the sport. Part of Federers greatness of records is that he spread his 20 between 1 on the surface of the most successful clay player ever, and the rest in 8, 6 and 5.

6-1-8-5  is a LOT better than 1-16-2-3

That's why.  It shows the ability to play under all conditions and dominate 3 slams, not just 1.  And the conditions these days are too close as it is.  Nadal is not in Fed's league.
