Federer's live experiences

Post by Tenez on Thu Feb 08, 2018 4:25 pm

I was impressed when I read that GP saw fed live 7 times. I thought I did not see him as much so deccided to count them..

1 - Fed Ancic Wimby...(06?)
2 - Fed v Ferrero Wimby 07 (not sure about that one. I know I saw Nadal's Berdych on CC with roof being built and pretty sure Fed/Fer but that might have been on TV unless they played on the same court as Nadal Berds)
3 - Federer Haas Wimby 07? Just a set
4 Federer v Karlovic Just a set.
5 Fed v Ramos Vilnoa Wimby 12 (I think it was RV..) - thanks to NITB
6 - Wimby 2016 v Johnson - Thanks to NITB
7 Federer v Tsonga WTF final 11?

I might have seen him more but trying to remember.

Mine were:

Fed-Nadal WTF dinal (I think it was 2009)
Fed Nole WTF final
Fed Nole WTF RR
Fed-Stan WTF SF
Fed-Ramos Wimbledon 2012 (yes, it was Ramos, T!, I remember even one good BHDTL from him)
Fed Johnson Wimbledon 2015

I nearly went to see him this WTF, but he was injured plus tired so  I decided against it.

I hope I get the chance t see him at least once more when he is in full roarong flight!

I remembered one more:

Fed-Davydenko in WTF, that was when Davy won the whole thing and beat Fed for the first time after 13 losses.

He he so we all saw Fed seven times!

That is quite something, as I consider 7 God’s number.

First i got myslef tics for Rotterdam final 2006, which was a safe bet in those days. Fed didn't show up because of an injury. So i saw a very lame final the Sod against Simon 6-0 6-1 or something like that.
Then i got tics for Halle 2007, whcih seemed a safe bet too. He didn't show up. I managed to sell my tics.
Apparently i had to bet bigger and got myself a passe-partout for Rome 2008. I saw him 3 rounds, he lost to Stephanek in the quarters. Yikes
In Rome i also saw a young Djoko, Blake, Wawrinka and many others

In 2012-2013 i saw Fed in Rotterdam against de Bakker, Niemienen, Bennteau (and losing!!), Davydenko

It's less than I 'remembered' despite going almost every year from 2009-2015, but:

2001 Wimb QF v. Henman
2009 Wimb R32 v. Kohlschreiber
2012 Wimb QF v. Youzhny
2017 Wimb R16 v. Zverev

Anyone notice a pattern in more recent years.....?

I missed the 'glory years', but it seems that each year of the later 'leaner years' that I watch him something good has happened....

Two games of Federer Benneteau at Wimby 2012. I was working as a cleaner at SW19 to help pay for uni.
Managed to sweet talk a security guard who let me in.

I became reluctant to watch him after placing a curse on him for the only two times I've seen him;

2010 QF v Berdych
2103 1st round v Hanescu (he lost next match)

I was also very annoyed that I also went to the 2010 final on a corporate jolly (Bloody Nadal / Berdych boreshow) and the same company had done the final the previous year. grrrrr!!!

I'm going to day 1 this year. Hopefully I won't have a bad effect again.

That was some sad afternoon..Federer got overpowered that day, that combined with the times the camera zoomed in on Berdych's huge (and shaved) quads made me think Fed's days were over..
Even though i knew Fed got injured in the Halle final, things didn't look good for Fed at that point, careerwise.

That’s right!
Barry, sign up to RG for ticket ballot, it is usually in February and it’s very easy to get the tickets.

Yes, Wimbledon 2010 was a disaster.
Berd then went on to destroy serveless Nole and prostrate himself to Nadal in the final.

Was that worst ever Wimby final?

Worst Final. Nadal was so confident he was going to win in that scorchio dried out clay court with huge slaz balls that that very year it was easier to break at the FO than Wimbledon. Nadal was hitting the ball so hard that Nadal's FH clearling the line and net by 2m was still too fast for nervous Berd to get his racquet on the ball.

Just once for the whole week of Basel 2011, watched all matches to his Final win. Did manage to greet him at day session training, in the hall.

P.S: Even then nitb was flirting with me, making me post pics of cakes and coffees at Manor.

Twice only:

2005 USO final vs Agassi. He was fantastic.
2009 USO QF vs Soderling.

I still managed to squeeze in and see Tsonga Nole on CC.

So thrilling. I love the experience.

A simple must for anyone! Big Grin

I have given up on getting any tickets from my stinking rigged club ballot.

I now depend on invitations or if people can’t go and want to sell their tickets.

Roland Garros is so much more reasonable and easier to get tickets for.
