Ranking Federer's slams
My maaan Raz doing his thing again.

I would say the three biggest wins for me are Wimby '03 (got the ball rolling), French Open '09 (slams on all surfaces) and Aus '17 (for so many reasons)
What is your top 3? Where would you rank 20?

For me, it’s AO17.
It had everything and more: he didn’t dream he’d win it at the beginning of it, he played hist best tennis, henintroduced NeoBH and he vanquished Nadal in 5 sets...making him look clueless.

As for number 20...it now looks flat compared to AO 17, mainly as he was the overwhelming favourite, nut the very fact it is number 20 is mentally groundbreaking.
Hey, the man has won TWENTY slams!!!

Re: Ranking Federer's slams
Top 3, reverse order
3. W12, beating Djoko & Murray in what appeared to be a late hurrah, and taking #1 record off Pete.
2. FO 2009, completing the career Slam after so many finals. In hindsight, with Nadal & Djokovic both later doing it, to have failed a career Slam would have been disastrous for him.
1. AO 2017. Simply miraculous.

I also aim for RG09 W12 and AO17
But USO 08 should not be forgotten. His career was in a downward spiral throughout that year. Djoko arrived and beat him badly at the AO, the mono, the trashing at RG, the heartbreaker at Wimbledon, for crying out loud: he even lost to Blake at the olympics. So winning the USO was a lifesaver at that stage.
He played flawless at W05. I also like W07 and AO10. BTW: AO18 feels special too.

Re: Ranking Federer's slams
I forgot about W12, yes above USO08 ...I remember after this one I said he could retire now I'd be happy.
The FO did not do much to me. had he won it v Nadal yes but v Soderling...did not have the climax of other slams. And I also think 1 is not a lot. I woudl have loved to see those FO 05/06/07/11 had he played with his today racquet. he may have had 5 FO like Rafa!

Re: Ranking Federer's slams
For me it’s got to include the first one, W03, and last year’s miracle AO17. I think I have RG09 in as well. Agree with Tenez that he did not beat Nadal, but he had those epic 5-setters and that forehand vs Haas (The most important shot of his tennis career). W012 was epic too, nearly going out to his back but recovering to beat Djokovic and Muzza and take Sampras’s #1 record. Choosing the best 4 would be easier.
think Fed himself would say the same.

Re: Ranking Federer's slams
For me:
1) FO 2009. Just what it meant for his career and the pressure he lived with throughout the tournament with the expectancy to win it.
2) AO 2017. No-one was ever prepared for that!
3) Wim 2003. Where it all began.
