Wilander: TDs Should Speed Up Courts

I have just read that Wilander said TDs should speed up courts if they want Federer to play another 3-4 years, and that he is the best thing that’s ever happened to sport.

So there you go!

TDs do move and shake in order to attract players.

No prizes for guessing why they slowed them down in the last 10 years.

If only...... they’d never slowed them and Fed still took the bigger racquet.

I often wonder what last 10 years would have been like had the courts not been slowed down.

Would Nadal ever have won AO or USO.
How many slams would Nole have won.

Fed would have certainly won much more, but how would the other players have fared...Tsonga, Delpo, Gulbis etc...

Would Davydenko, Roddick, Nalby have retired later?

Would more players have picked SBH?

I know these questions are futile, just can’t help myself...

One thing is certain, we would never have had Fedal.

Barry, what do you mean? I'd enjoy 40, but also see Nadal/Djoko loose some big GS in 3 sets to Fed. Also some big hitters would of had more chance in their careers in fast courts then slugfest.

I agree. Give the courts some zip for a change.

Back to Trnez’s point that TDs may speeding courts if they oerceove Nadal’s lost the cance to catch Fed...I wonder at what stage does thaat happen?

Funny, I always saw Roddick as just a serve and a bit of mumbo jumbo.

It's not just for the benefit of Federer.

Some of the other shotmakers will have more pop and get more from their arsenal.

We’d get more exciting tennis, attacking, shotmaking.

Fed just leads the way in all those departments.

I was shocked when he “invented” SABR in the middle of the slowest era.

Just goes to show how frustrated he must have been.
