Kyrgios has no balls.

He caves in as soon as he sees he can't win a match.

Which is why he's in a Masters 1000 final.  Yup.  That makes sense.  A guy with no balls or guts is in a final of the fastest 1000 on tour.  Thumbs Up Once again, you let your hatred of certain players cloud what little grey matter you have left.

That's not about balls or no-balls, that is his attitude problem. He might improve with age and a better coach.

Yes, but what does that particular attitude tell us about his character and brain?
raiders_of_the_lost_ark wrote: He might improve with age and a better coach.
Yes, and that's a big if.

I was imoressed with his tennis vs Fed in Miami, particularly his serve. A really clean shot, rare on tour these days.

Familiar pattern here of delusion and hate to players that NITB doesn't like (Kyrgios and Zverev)... Both being called gutless and useless by NITB.  Zverev with 2 masters titles already.

Kyrgios gets himself distracted too easily, has a concentration span of a mosquito.

And where did those two DFs from Dimi come from?

An even match so far, enjoyed that long rally.

Absolutely.
Dimi chose to play with a SBH when barely anybody innhis generation did.

Huge respect for that.

I like Kyrgios's bombastic style.
He has flair but unlike Dimi nit much guile, which goes with his flat hitting.

Nice match, though pretty light in some ways.

I think he's always played safe, which is why I was annoyed with him. It was worst under Rasheed.

He def has some talent but it's hard to see the way he chooses to play.

Or maybe his talent is not that great...which is why he doesn't have much other choice...

If Kyrgios had guts he'd serve and volley.

He has everything for it: great serve, soft hands, big wingspan,  athletic ability.

Not really.
Very few have a decent serve like Kyrgios.

You can't just come in on a Ferrer or Nishi serve these days.

Kyrgios is probably the only ine who could do it without any problem, and it would suit his short attention span, too.
Less pressure on the serve etc...

Ok so guys in the top 50 who have serves that go over 130 regularly include zverev, cilic, raonic, Tsonga, Isner, Kyrgios, Querrey, Khachkanov, Anderson, Lopez, Muller, Karlovic.
Of them the only net rushers are Karlovic, Lopez and Muller.

Of all the players you mention Tsonga qualifies, Muller moves like a tree.

If conditions got faster they'd all have more chance.

But in current conditions, Kyrgios could do it no problem.

...also, Kyrgios is a tall guy and shouldn't be running so much.
He is only 22 and already having frequent problem with his hip, same as Raonic.

Don't you think it would be so much better for him to change style of play?

Esp long term.

But he hates playing tennis...I forgot that! Laugh

Or is also completely outplayed.  Which he was.  But the serve was not solid for Kyrgios. He can and has done far better. But, guess what?  Kyrgios is younger and has more potential.  Let's see what the stats are at the end of their careers eh.  I mean... Dimitrov is entering his prime at 35, right?

I was unable to watch any tennis this weekend, but here are my reactions:

- Glad Dimi won.  I am slowly giving up on him, and Kyrgios has more potential, and I like both of their games, but when all is said and done, I prefer Dimi's game by some margin.

- Kyrgios is one of the rare cases where I agree with nitb that he should come to the net more frequently.  He has a great serve, great touch, and his game does not lend itself very well to baseline rallying.  He needs to play as aggressive as reasonably possible.

- Kyrgios also needs to sort out his head.  He will never succeed if he only plays well if he feels like it.

Cor watching that match was tough playing in many places. Scampering and scarpering. Granted it had more elegance than a Djokovic/Murray encounter, but still most of those points were right humdingers and the double fault fest. 9 in the match.

Glad to see Dimi win a big title. Just hope both players build to a serious challenge at the US Open.
