Wimbledon Day 14 Men's Final
Federer has made it to the final.
You could see him choke with happiness and excitement as he was picking up his bag to leave the court yesterday.
I am trying to imagine how he must be feeling now.
How do you try to pretend everything is "normal" and suppress the adrenaline.
Yes, he has been there before.
But never before has he been there "the last time".
My mind can't make another step in that direction. New territory.
........
Then there is Cilic.
He wants it, he thinks he has a chance.
He too is being suffocated by his emotions. The fuse may have already burnt out.
He calls himself "Careee!" (loose translation - maestro/genius, literal - emperor)
I can't wait to see them walk on the court tomorrow.

As I am not from the jinxing brigade, I'll say it as it is:
I think Federer wil incinerate Cilic tomorrow.

Fed will give it all tomorrow, yesterday whatever happened, will go away Sunday.
3 sets, maybe 4 if a bad TB.

I am not bothered about women's final at all.
Never liked either player. A pair of big screaming baseline camels.
Not to mention the obnoxious Williams' box.

I also expect Fed will destroy Cilic. I thought Fed played quite well vs Berdych, but I also thought he still had some extra gears if needed. Tomorrow he will not need to worry about saving energy for the final.
I am also glad that he is now coming over his BH more. In Halle, and the first week here, he would almost always chip or slice them.
I really hope I am not disappointed tomorrow, a loss would be rough to take.

Loss is not an option.
You go on the court and win.
Alternative- they carry you out on stretchers.
Roaring Federer on his beloved Centre Court having a chance to write history?
This is a special year.

What's the weather forecast for tomorrow? If the roof is closed - Cilic is even more toast.

BTW, just checked out V2 - there's some serious butthurt going on there. Particularly with Temp - the butt hurt is strong with that one

Temps difficulties lie in bitterly disliking Federer but trying to hide behind either disinterest, disappointment in the event, or in feigned support for other players. it just looks stupid and contrived.Emancipator wrote:BTW, just checked out V2 - there's some serious butthurt going on there. Temps only defence is that over there any form of calling out would be stamped out for being offensive or something.

Re: Wimbledon Day 14 Men's Final
Of course Federer will win, if he's fit. And i'm not sure about that.
Unlike most of you, i don't think he played great against Berdych. Far from it. It's just that Thomas kept on giving him free points.
Cilic is a combo between Raonic and Berdych. He's a better server than Berdych and a better returner than Raonic. But he'll feel the pressure of hitting first and that's his achilles'heel. He goes for too much too often.
In many ways this match is like the final RG 2009. But i think Cilic now is a little tougher prospect than the Sod back then. However, if Fed starts like he did yesterday and hangs on to that level, Cilic will be taken apart. But like i said, i'm not sure he's able to play at that level.

Re: Wimbledon Day 14 Men's Final
Here is what Ivanosevic (his ex-coach) advises Cilic:
"He must bludgeon Federer non-stop.
The morals from last year's match is that you must stramroll Federer, you must hit him, hurt him more and more even when he is on the ground.
You must kill him, and when he gets up, you must do it again.
And you must keep doing it 77 times during the match"
Hehe, I love these little insights.

Not a bad advice, Goran knows Fed is the King, but Cilic has no killer instict, he ain't Nadal or Djoko.
Otherwise I respect Cilic for being one of the nicest and well behaved guys on tour, quite too, no press BS and wanna be important, attention seeking crap, good boy in general.

Cilic "good boy" image is just that - image.
There's something about him I don't like, I can't put my finger on it.

Wow, what a clip, the pony tail days!!!
Who started that stupid look
Funny how Goran couldn't hit a decent volley to put Federer away.
But he was such a character, I loved him.
Btw, did anyome see today's men's doubles final?
I saw a few games in the third set, wow, what fantastic tennis they played.

Come on, he is ok, compared to some brash gits around the tour, he is acceptable.
Bit like Ferrer, not much on him, but not a thorn in the eye.

Exactly, tasteless, "ukus-less?"
Ferrer character? Character of a milk carton maybe, though liked him in a non-tennis sense too, quiet and behaved.
I don't want him, stop pushing people into me

So when rain needed London is all dry.
Anyway the beauty is lifting that trophy under the real sky, so let it be natural when Fed wins.
Roof would be a * for Fed when he wins.

Cool. Looks like i found a place in the village which will broadcast the match.
I find the odds for Cilic quite high. 3.5? That s bizare, i d have expected something more like 5 or 8 even.

How's everyone feeling this morning?
Are we all ready to go crazy?
Tbh, I am glad I have spared myself emotionally during the tournament and kept them all for today!

I don't live too far from Wimbledon, and the weather is overcast and muggy.
I can't say perfect conditions for tennis, but close to.
Not too hot and no wind.

Speaking of emotions, because I was so unprepared for what whas happening during ?AO, I was quite emotional all the way through it, match by match...so when he finally won the thing I was numb.... wrote:How's everyone feeling this morning?

Tbh, I am glad I have spared myself emotionally during the tournament and kept them all for today!
It took me a few days to defrost and experience it emotionally.
So this time it was the other way round.
I have been in a grumpy denial mode (as the expectations were vooced by everyone)...waiting for this day.
And so here it is.
What a great feeling.
I am ready for it as perfect as can be.

I don't like suspense (I actually google the end of a film I'm watching if I'm interested in the outcome) and I don't like disappointment, so I'm quite uncomfortable.
I've even been known to go out for long walks during sporting events in which I'm really partisan.
Mrs Bogbrush reckons I'm a nutcase but she knew that before she married me.

Hahah what's wrong with you man? You're like a pupil who has exam and calls sick to stay home
Have had same a few times, mid match went for a quick grass mowing or down the shop, in hope when I come back that set would of gone to Fed.

Yes THAT one.
Of all the six hours I only watch the last five minutes.
I suffered the entire match sitting/sprawling at the dining table in emotional agony, listening Staying Alive by Bee Geese ad nauseum (yes, I know ad nausea is correct, but ad nausemu soumds better, more kind of nauseous )
With Nole, emotions were just insane, shirt-ripping style continually.
It was really fantastic!

Funny thing is that in business (or exams when I did them) I'm completely nerveless. I think it's about control - what I'm in control of is easy for me to handle but I hate just looking on.
My youngest brother does the same sort of thing as you, I'll go full on. I'm undecided today, the weather looks nice enough for a long walk.......

Woke up early, could not fall asleep again, so I have already done surprisingly many chores given it is an early Sunday morning.
I am feeling confident, almost too confident. If Fed somehow loses the first set I will not be ready, probably will be immediate panic mode.
