Wimbledon Day 4
I have had no time for games but will start again this eve.
What happened to Medvedev? He lost his mind when leading 2/0 in the 5th....and threw money to the referee at the end out of frustration.
Anyway today we shoyld have a good view on Federer's form.

Re: Wimbledon Day 4
I just saw Fed playing Dusan!!!
Cool and not cool.
I am not sure we'll see Federer's form today.
This is as easy match for him as it can get. Nobody-bagels-Dusan-Lajovic is only a light version of Stan.
But at least the crowd will see many beautiful BHs.
And Fed is going to fly around the court.
Lajovic (from now on Duci) will relish playing the match of his life and I am sure he'll bring out the best and dazzle us with his shiniest stuff.

No easy match at this level. Hopefully a nice 3 sets warm up.
What i find frustrating with those slams is that we know who can produce the best tennis on grass on the day but there are so many other factors that it is all about "not stripping' stupidily. Could be injury, tiredness, awful conds, etc..

Ivanisevic also comments on how grass has changed:
He says it is not what it used to be, it's nearly same as clay as we have longer rallies on grass than clay now, players are complaining of how slow it is.
Only movement still has to be different, from time to time players will slip, bounce will be irregular but "things are changing" (*tennis evolution).
He concludes that players who can play on grass will still do well.
He sees Murray and Nole only 3rd & 4th favourites.
...and he wants a Federer-Nadal final!

Re: Wimbledon Day 4
Just saw that Medvedev was throwing coins out of his wallet to the umpire who apparently overrulled many calls.
Was hawkeye available on the court he was playing?
Didn't see the match but am assuming he must have felt robbed by the "bribed" umpire, so just added a bit more to her paycheque.
Cool if he was right.
We can all remember how umpire/linespeople robbed Karlovic vs Murray a few years ago with 11 footfaults!!!

That's realistic. I would rate it for now as:
1. Fed
2. NAd
3. Djoko
4. Murray
Same old story..Grass is a neutralizing affair these days.

bad umpiring its part of the game, and it will have its consequences, but thats total disrespect.
bad umpiring can happen in the same way a player can have a bad day and make lots of UEs

It's obviously far worse. Everyone makes mistakes (and presumably you don't even know whether the umpire did make any errors here?). However, throwing money suggests they were bribed and corrupt. Much as I like Mervedev, he should get hit with a large fine for that.... wrote:It's not as disgraceful as bad umpiring.

If you could you'd probably send both him and Naste to electric chair.
Medved is a decent guy, he wouldn't've done it without good reason.
And I am glad he did.
The umpire probably cost him at least another round at the most prestigious slam.
Do you have any idea how much it hurts a player, esp a young one.

Re: Wimbledon Day 4
Sorry but that's just nonsensical. I'm sure Medvedev is a decent guy but the reality is that he is obviously biased towards himself. I haven't seen the overrules (and it doesn't sound like you have either) so we have no idea whether there were any clear errors. Even if there were, that still isn't justification for accusing someone of being corrupt.
As for Nastase, obviously he has rightly been ostracised. You can't call someone a "f*ing bitch" and expect not to be punished and that ignores the other "dirty old man" behaviour he produced. Just came across as ignorant beyond belief.

Of course you can.
She is one.
It's called freedom of speech.
Why should he be punished...
It's the same as bullying media fuelled NATO bombing of innocent, helpless countries, who then create frustration and terrorist attacks.
When people feel injustice, it is normal to expect a reaction.

Agree with Slippy and Naxroy. That's despicable cheap behaviour and damn right rude and disrespectful. What a chump - I hope he grows up because that is the worst kind of attitude to have in life: arrogant, spoilt, petulant.

I'm not but i'm curious. According the stats Gulbis is hitting like a madman. 33 winners after 15 games..

i dont even think that nadal or serena would have acted that way if they felt that the calls made against them were unjust and unfair
what medvedev did was strike at the heart of the tournament by suggesting that the tournament is unfair and bias and that players or the tournament can bribe an umpire to win matches or get the win that they want.h was basically accussing wimbledon of being corrupt
thats a very very serious accusation to make, especially for a player.wimbledon should ban him from competing there again
as for nastase,i dont think that you would ever see federer behave that way,and if he somehow did,i think that he would be the first to apologise
that says it all really

Good to see an in-form Earnie, shame he bumped into Delpo.
Timing his serves brilliantly.

Do the BBC have some sort of quota of women's matches to show this year?
I remember last year there was a report criticising BBC for not showing equal number of women's matches, and this year I feel everytime I turn on BBC 1 or 2 it seems to be always women's matches.
They showed Radwanska vs McHale which was on court 2 over Thiem vs Simon which was court 1; and they showed none of Del Potro vs Gulbis which would have definitely been widely watched.

Rubi needs to improve his returns asap.
Losing some cheap points.
Superior player to Ramos but needs polish. He goes for every shot even when he is far from the ball.
Lendl would be a great coach for him.

I understand Medv s behaviour as i probably coukd have done the same at his age. He was over the moon two days ago and the fall may have been diffucult to manage at that age. I have not seen the event but I think he may have been shoked by some error and may have felt it was personal even if it was not.
He is young lets not forget about it.

He started the match serving, didn't see that game, probably nervous.
Ramos just called the trainer. Serving for the set.

But you're right.
Conditions should not allow Ramos to play his dull 1d game on grass.
He takes the first set.
Rubi now needs to learn to take his foot off the gas. He can't play/survive full on like this on pro tour.

M Zverev being taken to 5 sets really helps out for Fed. But it's Dimitrov round 4 that is going to be a real problem. He'll need to come playing near his best by looks of it, should they meet. Murray isn't going to be having fun either in R4 and beyond.
