Re: ATP Masters 1000: Madrid
No Goffin won't keep it up for 2 sets.
To me Dimi is more creative and talented than Thiem but also a tiny bit less settled mentally and that makes him a weaker player....even if able of a higher level.

I saw one last game, and he was playing just like before he piled the muscles on, couldn't muscle the ball.
Was an easy job for Coric.

Or more, Kyrgios folded into his gutless/tank mode as he saw he couldn't win.TMF wrote:Nadal battering Nick.

He should have a chance, the courts are fast, but Nadal is very physical again, so we'll see.summerblues wrote:Nadal vs Goffin, take two. What do we think, does Goffin have a chance? I am not optimistic.
Shame we can't measure thr amount of muscle that goes into shots esp the serve.

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Madrid
Nole-Nishi should be a very good match and a 50-50.
Nole is serving well and spreading the ball corner to corner fast & accurately, but may crack under pressure as he lacks the winning confidence atm.
Nishi striking the ball beautifully, this court suits him.
With him, it's the head...just can't cope with panic.
So...a good start essential for both.

Yes a good start is essential but again Nishi won't start! What a tanker!!! So disappointing. Anyhow the good news is that we will have the long due Nadal Nole match.

I just sat down to see if it started and it's a w/o!
What happened?

It is!
That was going to be the best match of the tournament, I looked forward to it...I can imagine poor ticket holding fans.
Nishi looked perfectly fine yesterday.
If he is carrying a chronic injury then it's wise he didn't aggravate it before a slam.
Still...you shouldn't be able to give w/o for that reason, I think.

Oh I thought that was the of w.o. by player. Well one would expect Roger to top the list with such a long career.

Did anyone see the 1set?
How did Goffin lose it?
I can't believe how many shots Nadal needs to win a point...king of clay my foot!

Did not but all the stats were in Nadal's favour which surprised me as I expected Nadal to grab it again by the skin of his teeth. So simply too strong for Goffun.

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Madrid
I'd like to see which players have withdrawn from the most matches. I suspect Nishi has withdrawn from a fair few. Anyway who cares. We know he's never gone win anything significant.
I reckon Nadal's gonna be too strong for Djokovic tomorrow. Rafa is now playing as well on clay as he was during 12-14 seasons.

I reckon Djoko is going to win. If Dojoko loses it will be very close.

Djoko needs to find some form if he wants to win. Rafa is not gonna hand it to him with errors anymore - his game is tight now.

Last time Nadal beat Nole was in 2014.
From what I saw of Nadal, his retrieving is back to his old days.
Mucho muscle, too.
Should be interesting.

If 2016 Djokovic (the first half of it) appears then it's straight sets Novak
Probably be in 3 for Nadull the way Novak is playing

Match ups. Djokovic can win this, even in his poor form.
Nadal still hasn't looked that good to me.

I am watching Coric Thiem.
Thiem is actually a SHBH Nadal. Nothing else. So loopy and standing so far back, he makes Coric look like an agressive player.

Finally you see it. He is not as bad as Nadal, but he is standing way too far back and his game is certainly not pretty . That SHBH is really the only thing he has going for him, as far as I am concerned.Tenez wrote:Thiem is actually a SHBH Nadal. Nothing else. So loopy and standing so far back

Yes, and after that shot he went on to bagel Zverev and eventually win the match.

Hehe, even I am having the same dilemma.
It's been so lovely being free and without blinkers....I really don't want to yoke myself with THAT again...however Nole appeared in my dream...maybe just for this match...I'll see how I go.

I have not seen Nole play in a while. Not looking very good at all in that first game. He will need to play much better than that.

Djokovic looks utter crap. He has nothing to trouble Nadal. Appears in deep decline.
I honestly now cannot see anyone other than Federer or Nadal as the year end #1.

At this rate, Nole will need a lot of hugs from Pepe when it is over.

Yaaay, he gets a game!!!
As far as I can see, the "only" thing that's missing is confidence...amd what a difference that makes!

The ugly scum is a Buddhist and through "meditation" totally depleted Nole's warrior's spirit.summerblues wrote:That may work for you nitb but I don't care about ugly scum in Nole's box, I just want Rafa to lose.
I don't know if that can be reverted, in fact.
I can't believe Nole fell for him. Really stupid.
