the funny thing is if me and anyone else were to say it how it is and call the russians or maria sharapova a bunch of dopers or melania trump a high class hooker you do get offended..why is that?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/tennis/39684332
I just saw that Marcon is married to his French teacher, 24 years his senior, and an heiress.

Now Vee, you must be following this one closely as you seem to like saucy public relashionships,  did he marry her for love or money?

Who is the real "hooker" here?
when i said such behaviour is unacceptable i was referring to a man ( nastase ) calling a woman ( konta ) a fucking bitch over and over again
men talking to women in such a degrading manner should be unacceptable in any culture  but i guess as you said, nastase was just "saying it how it is"
i dont know what macron has to do with this conversation.i had no idea that he married his teacher who is 24 years his senior and an heiress
im not really following the french election,i just saw some clips about le pen a while back on the news and spoke to a few french people who brought the subject up
apart from that and googling whats happened this past weekend after jahu asked me,i dont know much about it and havent been following the election, certainly not anywhere near as much as i have the u.s election
so i dont really know anything about the candidates in fact i dont even know who half of them are,i dont even know who macron is
i certainly dont support him,or any of them for that matter
but what does him marrying someone older who has money got to do with anything?
when have i ever said that that is a crime or that such behaviour is unacceptable in western culture?
all i did was ask you if melania trump would ever have married trump if he wasnt a billionaire
so clearly she married him for his net worth as potentially macron did too
but that has nothing to do with me calling her an escort
i believe that she was working as a prostitute in new york prior meeting or marrying trump cause theres virtually no pictures of her modelling on runways or doing campaigns in high end fashion magazines
the only pictures floating around about her "modelling" are those nude ones which surfaced in the new star tabloid
im just saying it how it is so why are you getting so offended?
if you want to call macron a prostitute you can go right ahead i wont lose any sleep over it

Anyway, this is what Naste said afterwards:

That's how you deal with political correctness - hit them where it hurts, not bow your head to them.

" I don't regret it and they can send me to prison if they want - I don't care. I was just trying to promote the interest of my girl. The English player just stormed off without even asking permission to leave the court and I admit that's when I called her a bitch. She kept trying to keep the crowd quiet - but it's not an opera, it's a game. I don't need this bullsh*t. I'm 70 years old. I don't even get paid for being team captain. I don't give a sh*t if they fine me or don't let me sit in the captain's chair.

im not quite sure what you are on about NITB
you seem to be at war with the media
of course the media have the ability to have a massive influence on what people believe or how they perceive things
i think that the media are only dangerous if you blindly believe what is written
but if youre aware of the brainwashing element and keep an open mind theres nothing wrong with reading articles.you dont have to believe everything you read, even if you read something you can still disagree
this is why i like to keep myself very well informed by reading up about a subject and get many different angles or point of views before i decide what to believe
apart from that,i dont see anything wrong with wanting to keep up to date with whats currently happening
but i am still not sure what that has to do with this subject

i agree wth this slippy, this story about nastase has nothing to do with feminism
this is about a man repeatedly calling a tennis player who was only trying to play a match a "fucking bitch" several times over.it doesnt matter whether he called her that before she stopped playing or after she stopped playing.he was being disruptive and it affected her concentration
that is completely out of order and no one including nastase should have to put up with such behaviour while trying to compete competitively
i think that she had every right to want to stop playing
all i was trying to say is that it doesnt surprise me that you wouldnt feel sympathetic towards konta because youre not even offended by a man boasting about grabbing women by the genitals so why would a man calling a woman a fucking bitch suddenly offend you?
as you said,he was just saying it how it is
as for his comments about serena's unborn baby
whether that comment was racially motivated or not is certainly up for debate but no one can deny that it was said with intention and malice to cause offence and be potentially hurtful to serena
as nastase said,he is 70 years old,i am sure he has been around long enough to know what a bi-racial baby would look like

Your language is full of politically correct phrases: "racially abused", "offended", "hurtful"...

If you plaster your big ass in peoples's faces on instagram at every opportunity like Serena does, announce your pregnancy & all other personal details to the world with equally degute photos,  scream "racial abuse!" every time someone says word "black", people are going to get sick of it.

I'm puzzled. Why should Serena not put photos of herself on instagram or announce her pregnancy? Isn't that a perfectly normal thing to do? Don't you only have to look at the photos if you choose to go on her page?

In any event, what does that have to do with Nastase making a crass joke about the colour of her baby? I'm not a fan of either Williams sister but, again, in this situation, Serena is clearly entitled to make the comments she has made.

when did i use the words "racially abused" i recall questioning if what nastase said about serena's pregnancy was racially motivated not "racially abused"
i dont see how that is being politically correct
nor do i see how the words " offended" and "hurtful" are politically correct phrases either
this is what i was trying to point out to you,i dont understand how you could be so intolerant to other people being offended for whatever reason wether it be because of racism, sexism or whatever you deem political correctness gone mad,you think that people who are being offensive are just saying it how it is and that those who are offended are over reacting
but if i or anyone were to "say it how it is" and call the russians dopers or maria sharapova a cheater.. you do get offended
if you understand what it feels like to be offended by someone, how can you be so insensitive towards anyone who is going through exactly the same thing- being offended by someone..the factual differences are irrelevant if it boils down to the exact same emotion
the only sense i can make of it is that you must believe that your reasons for being offended are far more valid that the person you think is over reacting
i really dont understand what your issue with serena is,its almost as if it seems like she keeps you awake at night
i dont follow her on social media so i have no clue about what she posts, all i ever catch is whats trending on twitter
if she wants to post pictures of her big fat ass on instagram, then she has every right to just as you have every right to ignore it and not look if you dont wasnt to see it
people living in the public eye know that internet trolls are going to say anything to try and get under their skin so most of them just ignore all the crap thats written about them just to try and piss them off
i dont think serena would get upset by seeing someone call her black cause she knows that she is black
i doubt that she even has the time to be bothered by those calling her a "nigga",if she did she would have reacted to it as we all know she has a big mouth and isnt afraid to speak her mind, the only person who seems to be bugged by it all is you

yep its in no way forcing anyone to look at anything unless you choose to look
and youre absolutely right,if serena chooses to post a picture to break the news about her pregnancy then thats her prerogative
i also think that serena responded to nastase comments because she was questioned about it

so how can you blame serena for that?
shes not the one posting pictures of herself in tennis news
you said that she posts pictures of herself and then complains if someone calls her black..has that actually ever happened or are you just making things up again?
i seriously doubt that these tennis news pages are uploading every single picture that she posts of herself but i am certain that they probably posted that picture of her that she took on snapchat to let show everyone that she was 20 weeks pregnant..because her pregnancy is tennis news
besides thats only 1 picture...its hardly like they are shoving her entire instagram profile down your throat
you could technically be accused of doing the exact same thing youre accusing others of doing - getting offended way too easily or over reacting

maybe some people do get offended way too easily and sometimes it seems like youre having to walk around on egg shells to continually be politically correct and avoid offending anyone but that doesnt give someone the right to go around doing or saying things on purpose to be offensive and then turn around and say "youre over reacting"
i certainly dont think that serena williams or jo konta were over reacting in this instance

Nice post Veejay. I also read tennis news and rarely see pictures of Serena from instagram. The only one I can recall is last week's one when she mistakenly released a picture showing she was pregnant. I suspect there were similar articles when Kim Clijsters or Azarenka announced their pregnancy. Hardly unusual or some form of excuse for Nastase's behaviour.

thanks Slippy
i think with regards to NITB's argument about political correctness, the one thing she over looks is that serbia isnt a multi cultured country, certainly no where near as multi cultured as the u.k or the states
we have people from  every single country in  the world living here in the u.k thats why we have political correctness
there is no reason for political correctness in serbia
but over here where everyone has to live together, you have to be tolerant of other peoples cultures and be educated enough to know what is offensive and what isnt
i actually find it surprising that she looks at it as a bad thing for society coming from another country

Well no actually.

Having had a long discussion with my father last night about politics (which has since left me slightly wired and depressed) I find it eerie his face appears when he was partly mentioned the discussion.

The whole West and East which media do I believe is a load of crap anyway. Each go out to extreme lengths to discredit the other.

nastase banned from siting in the royal box at wimbedon after "sexist and racist" comments at fed cup

i guess "saying it how it is" could have some serious consequences
it seems that the opinion is that his comments about serena are considered racist
im not so sure about that, but it was said with malice and intent to cause offence

Goebels was a very inteligent man, I dare say he was the daddy for most current politicians.

And no less corrupt either.

He may have even been an idealist back then unlike Blair, Hollande, Clintons, Merkel, Trump,etc...

Naste's reaction to being banned from ALL England Club:
(in my opinion, he is too kind in his reply, hope Taki writes about him on Saturday!)

Nastase said: "Look at it however you want - revenge maybe? I don't care.
"In 1973, when everyone else refused to play at Wimbledon but I did - does that not count for something? Do they not think about that?
"But if they are going to be so small-minded about it, there's nothing I can do. What does Wimbledon have to do with what I said about Serena and at the match in Romania?

"If I did something stupid at Wimbledon then I'd understand if I were then suspended. But in this case, I don't get it.
"If they consider it normal to deny someone - a 71-year-old (sic) - the chance to watch tennis matches, then that's their problem. It must mean we Romanians are morons... otherwise I don't understand it."

There always have and always will be the old boys club mentality and culture that runs in most circles. I mean crikey Prince Phillip is King of that school! Laugh Laugh

Nastase did make a good point about his participation at Wimbledon and in some quarters at the time was a draw for the tournament. The AETLC found themselves in a position of where there was national interest (need to be supporting not just Britain, but women too given the deep rooted nature of equality in this sport and especially the Fed Cup Team) and also given Konta's new found popularity amongst the patriotic supporters and increasing weight with them, it was a no brainer they needed to come down on Nastase.

I will end on the note that it doesn't make me sad that Nastase has landed himself in this bother. This isn't part of the 'colourful' character make up. This is just the idiot side of him.

This is just the idiot side of him.
been reading the various articles about the duke of edingburgh and his gaffes over the years
all i can say is  Yikes Yikes Yikes
doesnt surprise me to see NITB defending nastase, his behaviour and reaction, but i dont know why he made this seem as its an attack on romanians when the whole thing is centred around him,his behaviour and inability to even show any remorse
this has nothing to do with any romanians, being anti-romanian or even him being romanian
the reason why wimbledon banned him is because he behaved inappropriately ,his outburst was unacceptable and he didnt even bother to come out and apologise in a press conference, but rather arrogantly continually says " i dont care"
well if you dont care, why should wimbledon care?
and for the record,i am sure that an outburst like that from him at wimbledon in 1973 would have been just as unacceptable as it is today

I quite liked all the gaffes of the Duke, man is direct and most his jokes where applicable to the moment/country he was visiting when gaffes were maid.

Sounded a lot like Del Boy stuff smiley

I do not follow Davis Cup so I did not see this thread but then I noticed that it was getting new posts every day so could not help wondering what could be so interesting in the Davis Cup world.

Little did I expect to see mentions of a poem about Serbia, Macron and his wife, Melania's past jobs, and Goebbels.  This reminds me of covers of those magazines that they have in supermarkets.

all nastase needed to do with just apologise and everyone would have let it go as something he just said and did in the heat of the moment
but this defiant refusal to admit that he was wrong by continually saying that he doesnt care is whats making things a lot worse for him,it makes his actions look intentional and that he simply has no remorse
he has basically been shunned by the tennis world and its no ones fault but his own
an apology goes a long way
i can definitely see why wimbledon decided not to invite him cause they simply cannot have someone behaving like that in the royal box

He probably used her connections to get where he is now.

I feel so sorry for France.

I can't believe how easily & quickly they got  brainwashed and manipulated by just 30 years of media control.

Very true. The trick is to read the newspaper between the lines...then it's all clear what their agenda is.

the same could be said of religious people, you read the bible, believe whatever you read and believe whatever your preacher or pastor says so whats the difference?
an argument can be made that the more outlandish and crazy the religious story is,the more likely it is that people will believe it,so im not sure why youre criticising people who have an interest on the whats going on in their world
im just curious as to how the french were brainwashed by the media? what were they brainwashed and manipulated to believe by the media?

i have already read that,it doesnt explain to me how the french have been brainwashed for the past 30 years by the media to believe something, what were they brainwashed to believe and what have we here i  the u,k been brainwashed to believe by the media?
if hypotjetically i watched the news and saw marie le pen speaking, how would watching her speech be brainwashing me and the blame lie with the media? it would be no different then me making a clip of the speech and showing you, would i then be brainwashing you?
people are only brainwashed if they choose to believe things blindly i.e religious people
i can totally understand why the overwhelming majority voted for macron as voting for le pen to many would have been no different then voting for trump

I find your distinction between the two unconvincing.  But maybe we can be both right:

Maybe the comments here are indeed much like what you can see in those magazines, but if the soul is grubby enough, it may take them for exquisite morsels.

Well, the truth expressed in that poem, Goebels' quote about the power of media etc can only be exquisite morsels for any soul.

Gossip columns about who divorced who, who has the fakest tan, biggest house, silicone bum etc are nothing but dross, also for any soul.

The thing is one type of souls is attracted to truth and the other to dross.

And as a result one ends up grubbier than the other.
