Who Is Going To Win Australian Open?
Re: Australian Open 2017(The Draw Is Out!)
Didn't see that happening... Cilic AND Kyrgios out. Still, Fed has a shit draw still. Changes nothing about Berdych, Nishikori and Murray (and then Wawrinka) - so far.

If Fed were to win a Slam from any point on, he would become the 2nd oldest male Slam winner in the Open Era. That's the size of the task he has now. Honestly, I think his final chance has already been and gone - but it would be great to see him have a swan song,.

This other Zverev is playing VERY well... he's a break up at 1-1 in sets... and he looks like he can beat Murray today. Murray is a mental midget. Shouting and bawling as usual.

HAHAHAHAHAHA! You guys are missing something special here. It's SO funny. Murray is shouting like a maniac because zverev is totally outplaying him. It's unreal. Every time he thinks he's won the point, Zervev pulls of a brilliant save or amazing winner.

me not missing.. have been watching it since first point. Zverev is playing some excellect S&V tennis.
2-1 sets and a break down Murray trying is B game, which was his usual game for many years before Lendl. Keep giving slow, no pace floater balls asking the opponent to generate all the pace and the angle.

Misha Z. is playing boldly. Good his little brother is watching it, maybe he'll learn a lesson.

I wish I had not! So glad for this result.
Was Murray's ankle the problem? The fast courts?
Brilliant result.

That's the best performance I've seen from a low ranked player in ages. One of the best regardless.

I think the surface has a lot to do with that. This is why talented players like Dan Evans are doing exceptionally well too.

Re: Australian Open 2017(The Draw Is Out!)
I only watched a few last games, nerves kept me behind the sofa, like in bad old Nadal days...just couldn't believe this was happening.
Zverev was s&v even on second serves, Murray had nothing to challenge him with, no weapons.
Not sure about the ankle, as the points I saw were not very long, so not much running, he didn's seem in trouble moving...
Zverev is a mature player and not by the book so he took all he had- slices, moonballs, s&v...everything bar the percentage tennis Murray was bankin on to squeeze him out with.
So, fantastic result, what a way sto start week two of this AO!!!

Re: Australian Open 2017(The Draw Is Out!)
I put Money on most players outside Djoko and Murray (and sadly Federer) so I shoudl make good money whoever wins from now (bar Misha too though)....the only thing is I can't see my bets on betfair. It says I have no open bets....though I can see the money was taken out.
Frustrating.
But anyway I don't care about the money much. Whoever wins from now will make me feel happy.

Maybe, but he never had Jazz Green as a fitness coach.
Was surprised to see him in the Zverevs' box. I wo der why he left Murray.
Also funny how M.Zverev (a Russian with German passport and training im Floroda) kept doing Nadal style celebration "Vamos"-ing....
Who cares...whatever helps!

Looks it has roughly needed 10 years for the authorities to realise that slow courts killed the game and systematically gave us the fittest as a winner.

He's got to fancy it. Confidence will sky rocket if he comes through Nishi. Can't say the rest of the field will fancy facing a confident federer

I think on this surface Misha, Raonic, Tsonga, Dimi will all be tough to beat.

And aren't we watching better tennis all round as a result!
I hope TDs of other tournaments have taken note.
Second week of a slam has nit looked exciting as this in a very long time, and look how much talent is left in the draw!
Now when you watch matches, you are just enjoying tennis, hard to root against a player in a match.
I saw a little of Seppi-Stan, both nice players, Stan of coirse more attractive, Tsonga-Evans, was good but Evans seems either injured or cramping badly...or both...so that's a shame.
All in all YAAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!!

What is obvious here is that the ball is not dragging after the bounce....nearly as much as in the recent past.
Before one could run behind a ball and bring it back. Watching Tsonga evans, even Evans looks like a powerful player.

Well spotted, the ball doesn't seem to slow down when past the net like before.Tenez wrote:What is obvious here is that the ball is not dragging after the bounce....nearly as much as in the recent past.

What? So now a player beats Murray playing lights out tennis and this is your evidence that courts are faster? Nadal beat the better attacking player the other day in this very tournament.

No, there is general talk among players in their interviews and many commentators that courts this year are some what faster by the regular standards. Its not lightening maybe, but faster than last 7-8 years.

Damn... Fed broken in the 1st game.. Some great play by Nishikori..
Fed hampered by lack for 1st serves.

ATM Nishikori is reading Fed's serves very well, even the 1st serve.

Zverev was actually not attacking as much. I have not see the stats but he covered a lot of ground. Maybe a bit less than Nadal but at that game Nadal was the better player.
Alex Zverev was standing very far back...I am told Misha was at the net. A big difference on fast courts.
