An interview with Stepanek in Serbian
http://www.b92.net/sport/usopen2016/ozmo.php?yyyy=2016&mm=09&dd=03&nav_id=1172463
Interesting last paragraph in which he says Murray hired Lendl to help him prepare mentally for his matches with Nole and his desire to slow Nole down.

Dimi's gone under the radar a bit, hasn't he?
Sousa shouldn't be a problem for him.

And Dimi bags the first set with some good tennis.
I've had enough of that match as Sousa is bashing PLUS neighing/yelling on every shot.
It really should not be allowed by ATP.

Who saw Nadal play yesterday? very impressive. Very fast, powerful and confident.
Pouille has the typical game to hurt him....once he gets used to the spin. However Lucas must be tired after 2 5 setters in a row.

Murray and Nadal, the 2 most obvious steroid users are getting bald.

Murray throws a 42 shot rally with lorenzo to break back. he knows that despite being twice as heavy and muscly than Lorenzo.....he can last longer!

I saw a little bit of Nadal's first match...was moving well but not handling the ball that well.
It's a shame he and Murray are not in the same half.

That rally was ridiculous.
Murray not at the races and Lorenzi choosing to indulge the rally inviting shots. He reminds me of Ferrer.

yes very much like a Ferrer and weird that Murray plays like them despite being built like a tank!

Murray hit an accidentaly really well timed BH and showed how much he normally muscles the ball to get half the speed of that well timed one,

Amazing the physical transformation of Evans. He runs everywhere! Quite a change from a year or so ago!

Plus the lasso FH...
Murray definitely has the biggest legs now. I don't know how he is able to sprint with such huge quads.
He has made a science of his fitness regime - the more he works in the gym the better his ranking. GB team are following.
I can't remember him improving a shot or adding stg new to his game in years.
Maybe more muscle on the shots and that only when he has to...against Nole.

Just saw order of play for to orrow, Nadal-Pouille day session, clearly Nadal's choice of high bouncing conditions.
Hopefully Lucas's bullets will fly fast and accurately.

Really impressed with Evans. Stan having difficulty with his ankle.
Gave up with the Murray match. Least this match has some shotmaking.

What colour are the courts this year? I am color blind so I am not sure if they have a touch of pink. they used to be blue. they prbably still are but I see some pink in it.

Those courts are too fast for Stan's power. he is scared of making mistakes. He likes slow courts where he has time to aim and trigger.

Yes, well spotted....hence the nervousness, still, from the little I saw in the first few sets, the speed didn't affect his BH much, only FH.
Still, a good result for Evans. He needs to do something about his serve asap if he wants to progress in the ranking.

Re: Us open day 6
Just saw that Kyrgios retired, too.
That is a lot for one torunament esp slam.
It's a miracle Nole was able to hold 4 slams in these conditions.
No wonder his body gave him the red card.
I just wish TDs realised what's going on with players. They need to act quickly or ticket sales will drop if big names start pulling out.
Talking of "little" names, excited about Nadal-Pouille match.
The lion pup will show his claws today.
However tired he may be, he is still young enough to recover and play at his best for three sets.
I read that Nadal complained about the balls, how they are different from OG and Cincy.
The fact is they are all quick when you are not standing back.
Welcome to the baseline, Rafa!

Re: Us open day 6
Unlucky for Evans. Like Murray, first serve too inconsistent. Great tournament for him though. If he had ease of power, would fly up the rankings.
Another retirement. Think that's the 7th on the men's side from 112 matches.

Re: Us open day 6
With his unfavourable height, Evans should rely more on timing rather than force on the serve.
I didn't see enough, but he seems to try and gain height by jumping onto the shot, like Tipsarevic, or use lots of spin.
It's too risky/inconsistent, but funnily even with that serve Stan didn't have much joy returning it for some reason.
Evans is still trying to find his game, more the winning balance of spin and aggression.
Not easy.
There is a lot of fish in ATP pond!
I wish I saw the whole match, but the wifi kept slowing so I dropped off....

Re: Us open day 6
He played very well versus a hesitant, scared Stan.
It cost me £50!!!!!. At 4 all in the forth Stan is favourite on betfair. I know he is as nervous as v Delpo in Wimbledon and expect the same result. So i put my money on Evans.
And I was right......almost!!!. Evans has one or 2 MP but was quite unlucky. After that Stan played with confidence.

I am still glad Stan went through, though.

Also super happy for Delpo, the sad giraffe with little ears sticking out of his bandana.
I loved how he threw himself into fans in Rio, dived into the sea of love... one of my favourite "tennis" moments ever, it was beautiful!

It's not just about force of serve. A higher first serve would allow for some easier points rather than keep playing on the back foot from the off.
Evans room for error against Stan was tiny. He had to make sure that he didn't cough up short balls or be bludgeoned by Stans power.
It's a cruel world. If legs don't get you, power will.

Stan did not play with much power last night as he struggled to keep the ball in court. As i mentioned, the court might be a bit too fast for him.

Re: Us open day 6
The moment he got his ankle strapped he was going after the Evans second serve. Something he didn't do in the first set.
Stan had more power on his shots than Evans. The injection of pace after that first set in Stans shots then showed the gulf between the 2.
Take the power out of Stans shots like yesterday, and he struggles.

Evans looked the more nervous of the 2. Lots of errors and DFs.
