Nishi served for the match in the 2nd and was broken, surprise surprise.

And Murray win the first set. I was not watching. I might give a glance for 5 mn....A fresh Delpo could have won.

Arrogant umpire refused Del Potro's challenge because he didn't see it lmao. And it was out. Would and should have been 40-0 to Del potro on Murray's serve.

Pathetic.

Del Potro is very tired after his match with Nadal - and Murray is just doinbg his usual gutless pushing. But on this court it pays off. Pathetic commentary also. Truth is Del Potro is a better player than Murray, it's just the conditions favour this slow ass whinger.

Murray has another asterisk over his name. He's needed yet another worn out opponent in an olympic final. Had the easy draw.

Well, still better than Djoko wining this, so well done to Andy.

Delpo must be happy for his return, hope he keeps it for the remaining season.

Del Porto was clearly spent going into the final
He looked completely worn out after having won the second set
I reckon had he been on peds then he would have kicked Murrays ass
Just further proof that Murray is clearly doping and is using something that's helping him endure longer

I dropped off after the first set.
Shame Delpo was tired.

Amazing to see he was able to get back to competing at high level after al ot 4 years of absence and injuries.

But his game has always revolved around timing his groundstrokes, mainly that big FH swing...imagine if he didn't lose those crucial 4 years!

Then again, his body will have remained fresh, not burnt out from the tour grind...so maybe his come-back turns out to be timed well with most other too players being walking wounded with injuries.

Only Murray looks to be fresh as a daisy.

I am not a professional on tour in front of millions making millions - nor am I screaming and swearing when one point doesn't go my way.  No class. It takes a special kind of asshole to bitch and swear and whinge when making millions playing a game of tennis.

False equivalencies make you look idiotic.

Well Murray played Johnson in the QF, and a very fatigued Nishikori in the SF.
Del Potro meanwhile had to get through Djokovic in R1, and played Nadal in a 3 set epic the day before his final.

So of course Del Potro would be more tired for the final, anything else would be rather odd...

Nonsense, Tenez.  Going through Djokovic and Nadal was way harder than what Murray had to do.  Playing 2 of the greatest defenders is going to wear most players out. Or are we doing away with human biology again?

Re: Rio Olympics 2016

So after the US and UK press and athletes accused all the big nations of doping they rank number 1 and number 2 respectively in number of medals....having only a fraction of the population of China!

Imagine if a country of the population of GB (Thailand, Germany or Italy) (~65million) were to win more medals than the 1.4 billion people China? (about 25 times the UK population). I am pretty sure the press would throw all the dodgy rumours...like they systematically did in the past.

Regardless of the obvious "clean superrace", it felt this time media machine was almost desperately pressing with bread and games in the uk.

And that is never a good sign.

@ tenez,do you think the u.k would still have come second on the medal table if the entire russian olympic team were allowed to compete?
its been a pretty poor showing for china but a lot the british success is clearly down to lottery funding
i definitely agree about how not only the media but sports personalities and the general public would question another countries success

I am not sure of anything. I am only speculating.

UK and US are doing very well in long lasting sports: Tennis, triathlon, athletism, cycling, swimming, etc...

It's getting weird. One of the most obvious case of doping to me is Murray. Built like a tank, runs like a wildebeest. I woudl not be surprised if his secrets were being passed on to the rest of the team.

But maybe there are all clean....what I think is funny is that no journalist here would question their integrity while they jump at every occasion to do so when outside their borders.

Amazing from Britain to come second, beating China!!
China have more than 10 times the population, and basically forces kids with talent into training.

Britain meanwhile shows the value of willpower and joy, which trumped at the end- incredible!

it is a strange rating system, one would have thought that most medals would count more then most gold medals
back at the 08 beijin olympics when china were top on the table with most gold, the americans (who couldnt be seen as anything less then no1) were top on the "american table" with most overall medals and then went back to top on the table in london 2012 with most gold medals  Laugh

The way he came back from nearly losing in the first 2 rounds at RG to easily beating Wawrinka in the SF was something you can't explain. The guy could give Mo Farah a decent race...

The rating system for me screams just rid of silver and bronze medals if gold is what're the denominator.
