Re: Men's final day
Murray in 3. The final he's been dreaming about really. Facing off against a lower ranked opponent. About time kind of thing.
Raonic with some mileage in the latter parts of the tournament. A step too far.

Re: Men's final day
Well for sheer consistency I am pleased to see Murray potentially add another Slam to his name.
I am interested to see what happens beyond today.

Re: Men's final day
I found these 2 opening paragraphs on tennis.com preview of the final quite telling (regarding Murray's consistency):
"Here are the last names of the players that Andy Murray has faced in the 10 Grand Slam finals in which he’s played: Federer, Federer, Djokovic, Federer, Djokovic, Djokovic, Djokovic, Djokovic, Djokovic, Djokovic.
No offense to the man that Murray will face in his 11th final, Milos Raonic, but after trying and mostly failing to run that gauntlet—he won just two of those 10 matches—the Scot might be looking forward to playing someone who isn’t among the three or four greatest players of all time on Centre Court on Sunday. "

Not one for saying players deserve things, but to have faced players ranked higher and better than you in 10 GS Finals you'd have to be extremely unlucky.

I wasn't going to plug my preview, but as you've advertised tennis.com I think I have to now for balance:noleisthebest wrote:I found these 2 opening paragraphs on tennis.com preview of the final quite telling (regarding Murray's consistency):

Yes, but they are generally ranked higher because they are better. Esp over the years.
Federer and Djokovic are simply better players.
I think Murray's done well to get the two slams he did.
That is the reward for his perseverance.
Personally, I am not a fan of winning that way, but he had/has no other options, did/does he?

Yes, it has...it was a strange one.
I suppose we need to start getting used to charismatic star-free finals we have had in the last decade.
Any news on Nadal?

Re: Men's final day
good question...where is nadal and what is he up to?? lol
I still think he is lying low till the whole blood bag saga is over
it doesn't look like he is going to sue that former french minister of sport
it looks like him and his team were just bluffing

He doesn't. However, in many forms of sport the best never always rises to the top.
He has the opportunity and has to take it. If anything I think in the Slams he has under-achieved.

Actually, I remembered...
Someone posted a photo of him in one of the articles on tennis.com.
On some yacht as he was changing his swimming shorts.
Thankfully from behind.
What was weird in that photo was that he was getting changed in front of another man.
Anyway....I am sure Wooffie has that photo in her blog. Haven't been there for a long time!
Back to tennis...
I still think he is injured. He was just beginning to gain momentum and confidence.
But we'll never know...

Listening to Peter Norfolk speak so passionately for wheelchair tennis. Great insight about the chairs and rehab.

I'm for Andy, but would not mind Milo to take it, not young, but let's say a different face from the usual winners.
Good luck to both, lets hope a good 5 setter.

Oi, oi, Andy is my second guy after Fed, but anyway since I'm tired of the so called Top 4 or now Top 2, I'd rather anyone else win.
Who are you for? Andy or going against/for Crna Gora

Well being a Mntenegrin he is effecticely a Serb, so it will have to be him, however much it pains me to look at his desperate face...and that tongue stuck it...I wish he wore a paper bag over it!Jahu wrote:Oi, oi, Andy is my second guy after Fed, but anyway since I'm tired of the so called Top 4 or now Top 2, I'd rather anyone else win.

Yeah that tongue is a classic teen stuff, when we used to play football after escaping from school classes.
Lets hope we see some action and not just serves.

Use to be only females on his box, so he got used to abusing them, but I'm sure Ivan will slap him tonight for it.

63 rushes to the net for Raonic. Realising the baseline isn't his strength.

Probably Mac pushing Milo to net, sure he is bad at it, but still better then Djoko.
