yes but close and good match.
Nishi is the closest to Djoko. I think he is better and woudl have convincingly beaten a 2013 Djoko.

He played like that only because of fans showing love.
Made my eyes misty to see how much it meant to him.
I thought Nishi fought well to the end.
Great match from both.

Yes yes, compared to a few late comers that we all of us hoped would beat the top 4, he is most consistent.noleisthebest wrote:Jahu wrote:Djoko takes it, good match and Kei dissapoints, so many chances to take this, even in 2 sets.

I'd say the most talented. I dodn't watch USO final when Cilic won, that was Nishi's chance to shine.
How old is he 26-7?
Amazing he never won anything decent...it's tough at the top!

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Rome
He was tired for Cilic, simple, Cilic was nothing special, caught Fed OFF too.
Werid, as he is probably fastest mover on tour, super BH, not so power FH, but better then most over top 4.
Sad, as I always wanted him to get a GS for the lovely Japan, but maybe once the old top 4 f* off, he has a chance.

I can't imagine a tournament without the top 4!
But the day will come...
problem is, so little charisma among young players.
I blame Nole for introducing opponent's point clapping!
I can't put my finger on it, but there is something wrong about it.

Nole invented something else too, that Nadal copied after: every time time they played Fed and Djoko or Nadal said Fed is best ever, Fed lost that matchnoleisthebest wrote:Jahu wrote:He was tired for Cilic, simple, Cilic was nothing special, caught Fed OFF too.

I find those bans depressing.
Old bbc 606 was thriving because it had wums, dullards and knowledgeable posters.
And we all had fun.
modding on v2 is ott & suffocating.
Good luck to them all, not my scene.
I don't like being told what I can say!
Anyway...
Only fuming & ranting Murray can make tomorrow's final watchable.

DJoko will be tired tomorrow, final is at 5pm and SF just finished.
Last chance to beat Djoko for him on clay, and a maiden one.

Starting his 30th year! Djoko will join him next week. Nadal and Gasquet starting their 31st year 3 weeks from now.
We are likely to have 6 players over 30 in the top 10 during the FO. ...and 8 out of 10 in their 30th year or older!!!!
That's a bloody long decline for some!

I am actually enjoying all these "old" players, so much skill on display. Nole has hit some great BH slices yesterday, not to mention Nishi's DTL magic...
The quality has gone up significantly in the last two years.
You could see what gap there was in skill and guile between Pouille and Murray in that department yesterday, just in sheer maturity of ball striking and variation of shots.
That means only really talented young playes will be able to survive and that's good for the future of tennis.
It's so tough for them now!

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Rome
It just means if you want to succeed, you need more experience than before.
Stan is the perfect example. He coudl not win a single match v Nadal, Djoko and Federer. Labelled a choker by most of us....and then suddenly he lessons them all. Not a coincidence. Just maturity.
Same thing happened years ago when Agassi was facing Gomez in that FO final. Gomez was a great shot maker but always failing in the later stages of slams. However at 30 or was it 32, he lessoned Agassi and won his first and last GS.
Problems is that nowadays the bar is much higher and experience becomes more important than ever essentially due to the professionalism of modern top players and lack of new parameters giving the youngsters an added edge (like bigger frames or strings did).

Murray is a hard working tennis player making the most of opportunities presented to him.
He would have never beaten a fresher Djoko at the USO, Wimby or here in Rome...but asap Djoko is under par....he is all over him.

Be intrigued to see the draw at RG. Especially more so if Federer pulls out.

I can only apologise for your ban on 606V2. I saw it kicked off into a major shitstorm over there and I can only apologise you and temp inadvertently got caught up in something which didn't involve you 2.
I'll somehow get an apology over to temp at some point.

I'm fine anyway, cant stand that temp. Enjoy the weekend and chill

Re: ATP Masters 1000: Rome
Interestingly in an old thread elsewhere which was quite intriguing and engaging was the Elite 3 X 100 Club. If my memory serves me right only Federer was the active player to record over 100 victories on all 3 surfaces. With Murray winning Rome takes him to 88 clay victories, but closer on grass with 90 victories. A good run at Queens and Wimbledon could see him reach that milestone and leave only clay to conquer next year.
Djokovic needs 33 grass wins to join the club.
Hewitt missed out on clay by 2 wins.
