Re: Masters 1000: Paris
Bad news is: Pouille is in Murray's quarter. For the third week in a row.
Good news: he has a bye in round one and will be fresh in his next match in front of his home crowd.

He will have to beat Feliciano first. Did not he lose to him last week?

Re: Masters 1000: Paris
Yes, he has 3 players in his quarter alone capable of beating him atm.
The season has been a disaster, only RG was good and memorable.
In hindsight, Nole was impressive to pull it off under the circumstances and pressure.
It's strange to see:
Deflated Nadal
Retired Federer
Lifeless Nole
all in the space of 3 months.
Only Murray seems to be galloping.

The big match could be round 3 Goffin vs Cillic for a spot at London!!

Re: Masters 1000: Paris
Finished my work for the day, worked out how I can watch tennis on bet365 on a large screen...sunshine pouring through the windows...Pouille playing, I'm in heaven!
Third set, Pouille missed two BPs, lots of skill from both, but Lopez looking like a retriever.
Pouille serving great!
Back to his confident USO self.
ALLEZ LUCAS, you can do it!

Lopez flashed a really beautiful BH just now...you simply cannot beat the elegance of a SBH, it's breathtaking!
and at the same time, when timed and struck well, however delicate a shot it inherently is - it can be a deadly weapon.

And he does it!
Some amazing volleys, and really exciting tennis.
...and he is only going to get better... what's there not to like!

Thiem loses meekly to Sock.
His year really is going out on a whimper. Don't expect much from him at WTF, if he makes it.

Re: Masters 1000: Paris
Thiem plays small tournaments and makes his points there, that's why he's "running out of steam" i.e. game when it matters.
Pouille who had two slam QFs is ranked behind him.
He'd be a much more interesting and exciting player in O2 than Thiem.
Hopefully, next year..

Muller does not provide much challenge to a visibly fresh Nole. More like a light, cold starter.

Thiem still made it to the sf of the FO.

Yup. The scoreline suggested Nole mullered him but it was closer than that.

Not really closer than the score indicates. I saw a set or 2 and frankly Thiem had no solution or belief.luvsports! wrote:noleisthebest wrote:I don't remember it at all.

Glad Murray got booed for his maniacal yelling and c'moning.
What is the matter with him?

Yep/.....that was close.
Typicaly Nandos....close but no cigar.
What is terrible about Murray is that once again, aspiring to number one with an ugly retrieving game.
Another possible number 1 with shots worse than a number 43....sure more consistent but shot wise? plain ugly.!

Re: Masters 1000: Paris
Wow, what a super day of tennis!
Hard to pick just the one, but will have to go with Pouille-Murray!
followed closely by Nole-Dimi
Nishi-Tsonga will be super tennis, both playing well, then Cilic-Goffin fighting for WTF spot, and finally the one and only Gillou back to his old tough irresistible best!
All in all: yaaaaaaay!!!!

I read Bercy courts are faster this than last year, but still, how on earth did Stan manage to lose to Struff!
When I checked the scores he was 4:1 in the first set!
I hope he hasn't closed shop for 2016....it's about time he had a good WTF.

So funny. Stan telling off a green politician. 'It's midnight. If tennis isn't your thing go home.' To the politician who kept talking in the front row.

Just started watching Murray-Pouille, 4:1.

Murray managed to get under Pouille's skin.
They are complete opposites in every possible way.
There is nothing ugly and dark in Pouille's game and demeanor.
I din't know why his BH was weak today.
But I know, he has beautiful future.
First class, rich talent.

Re: Masters 1000: Paris
Evans was ranked around 200 at the start of the year (and about 700 as recently as June 15). Poor display in the DC final or not, being up to 50 in the world is still impressive. He's had a poor end to the year though, so needs to re-focus in January.Veejay wrote:dan evans nominated for most improved player of the year?

He won't win that award in any event. Pouille would be my pick but I suspect it will be Zverev.

Nishikori: No nerve. No serve.
That's his motto.
Incidentally, I beat the bookie again. Popped 50 0n Dimi @ 6-1 and cashed out 116 near end of set 1. I knew Djok would come back.

And if he doesn't it'll be a formality at the Masters where Murray defends 200 and Djokovic 1300.

Re: Masters 1000: Paris
Yes it was a pale copy of former Djoko. His shots look so full of fear.
I am gutted as I put £20 on Cilic to win a 4.5.....to cash in at 5/4 when Djoko broke in that second set...so I made a mere £4!!! instead of £70.

WTF points have already come off. If Andy loses today, he would still need to outscore Novak by 415 points at WTF to be number 1.bogbrush wrote:And if he doesn't it'll be a formality at the Masters where Murray defends 200 and Djokovic 1300.

Re: Masters 1000: Paris
That's not very relevant. Cause without the WTF points Djoko is 400pts ahead. SO it is going to be down to who performs best at the WTF and whether Murray can ear a max of points before WTF.bogbrush wrote:And if he doesn't it'll be a formality at the Masters where Murray defends 200 and Djokovic 1300.

If anything he shoudl play more relaxed now. He looked very tensed. His shots looked full of fear again. It;s Murray breathing on his neck that I think affected him.

Agree, but this method does not work in Balkans, once rich, you don't give a F for anything or anyone.
Need to understand some mentality background, to understand DJoko.

I'm thinking about Fed. Murray stops Djokovic in his tracks with the WN1 total weeks, which he did have a chance of beating. Not a great chance, but a decent one. I think Murray has snuffed it out.
