US OPEN 2012 MEN'S SEMI-FINAL
For the first time after I don't know how many years, we have a slam semi final without either Federer or Nadal.
Personally, I really looked forward to another thriller between Fed and Nole, so am sad that is not going to happen.
Still, two good matches ahead, with only one slam winner among the 4 players, Novak, being the youngest of them.
Murray somehow manages to get to play the first semi-final and automatically gets himself an advantage esp with the weather forecast not looking good for the evening hours, when the second final is most likely to be played.
Arthur Ashe Stadium 11:00 AM
Men's Singles - Semifinals
Tomas Berdych (CZE)[6] v. Andy Murray (GBR)[3]
David Ferrer (ESP)[4] v. Novak Djokovic (SRB)[2]
So, lets not beat about the bush here, what do you think, are Berd and Ferrer going to do it?

I heard this when I was driving in the morning. And that is good for other players to know that they can do it. I am glad for Fed to get the record of being no. 1 this year, because there will be no chance anymore for him to come back for sure next year. He has had a great tennis career and got nearly everything. Great player!
I am not afraid of him what he will do when he retires. He can become a successful politician or a pastor of ill people or poor Africans. He can also do the NIKE promotion campaign
When Nadal retires, he does not have more options. He can just become a torreador or tame the bulls. Poor bulls
Take it easy. I think they will play still some semis, if they are not injured. I wish to first one to stay with tennis a lot of years, but it is not the case for second one.

And what about Murray, he'll have to fight for the rights of Red Indians!

Re: US OPEN 2012 MEN'S SEMI-FINAL
Paul,did you know this:
The world number four said: 'Four days
after Wimbledon I dreamt I won Wimbledon, and I woke up in the morning
and I was just starting to feel better. That didn't help.
'Then
a few days after the Olympics, I dreamt that I lost in the final of the
Olympics. Obviously waking up remembering that I had won was nice. That
was when I was in Toronto.
'So
you think about it a lot. But the thing with tennis I think especially
is of course we have tournaments and things to look forward to in the
not too distant future.
I wonder what's he's going to dream about tonight?

I wish him to dream about a tasty turkey with very good red wine and to see in TV programme that Vinnetou is on a channel tomorrow

Adding the prediction game to this thread. The winner is almost certain : nitb. Last few formalities left.
1. Tomas Berdych (CZE)[6] v. Andy Murray (GBR)[3]
2. David Ferrer (ESP)[4] v. Novak Djokovic (SRB)[2]

Nitb, I see the final also for Nole with Bird
I think Berd will do it, he is extremely determined. He feels his chance and has a lot of confidence. His baseline game and FH especially will push on Andy. There will be no more chances to play drop shots or lobs. If Tomas holds his serving on very high standard, then Berd will do it.
I also noticed that Andy plays under a big pressure and looks pretty nervous. Not sure how he can handle with this. Tomas is relaxed and feels very good.
It will be a fun to watch Nole with smoking duracel Spain sombre El-nino

Is anyone watching? Murray breaks. Looks very windy. It's not going to be easy for Berdych, already broken!

Hi Ten, I am looking at, saw couple last games. The wind is terrible. If Bird holds his nerves, then Murray must give 120%. This windy conditions can mix up with focus of both, so looks to be interisting match. The first set took about 74 minuts, that is cruel for both before the final.

Yes but it's even more cruel for the other semi-finalists. Looks like Murray is going to make it harder and harder for Berdych.

Murray seems so relaxed knowing he will get his high pressure time where he will thrive as usual.
The conds are really favouring his style.

It really annoys to hear Murray screaming at times as if he was suffering or injured. It's purposedly done to give the opponent a false sense of security.

USO is turning out to be a bad joke, one of the worst tournaments on tour: cheap umpires, no rain covers, idiotic scheduling, draw fixing

Turning out? It's been like that for years and if teh AO was not doing its best effort to slow conds down to ridiculous proportion, The USO would be the worse slam by a long distance.

well, I kind of ignored it all for the sake of all those good matches form the past, but now this mockery of tennis in this weather, it's perverse and reached the rock bottom!

Re: US OPEN 2012 MEN'S SEMI-FINAL
What a huge disappointment this match has turned out to be.
Playing conditions have unfortunately favouring Murray because the wind has exposed Berd's lack of agility and speed around the court. Still, he should not give up mentally.
come on Berd, put up some fight

But we know the USO has been engineering the champion for years. It's the slam where even the sceptics don't deny draw rigging, the slam where everything is done to favour the people's champion. The slam where Cilic gets time warning at BP when Nadal gets away with murder. The USO is the slam won by more native than any other slam, put together probably.
I do not like the USO! End off....but that doesn;t prevent me from watching and see how players try to survive in it.

All players who play with higher margins safer shots will love these conditions. It was remarkable how Fed won in IW semis this year against Nadal ( who did all tricks to win but failed ).noleisthebest wrote:Nadal would've loved these conditions...I bet he's kicking his left knee now or not being able to play it.
