Re: ATP Tour Final - The Draw
I started watching when he was 2:4 down.
Was really worried it would be a repeat of last year, he even looked jaded, esp with that beard.
And then his game got warmed up and he took off...the ball did as it was told!

Re: ATP Tour Final - The Draw
If you look at the game he lost it was very unlucky. An easy volley in the net, and 2 net calls against him.
So in effect it could have been 63 63.
Will be tougher today though.

I hope he avoids that kind of start today.
Absolutely.Tenez wrote:

If it was Dubai, Cinci, Wimbledon he'd be a strong favourite. He's in fantastic form in London this year.
But because it's the baseline favouring O2 and Djokovic is guarding it like Cerberus, I'd give him 50-50.
Should be a great match.

Re: ATP Tour Final - The Draw
though I subscribed to tennis TV for the day, I'll watch it on the Beeb. Goodall and Koening just talk too much. Nice guys and often spot on.....but poluting the game with constant talking.
Henman is sober and I enjoy having a go at Castle.

Excellent first game from Federer.
Pure baseline, showing Djokovic he is not in any rush this evening.

The only positive for Roger is that having played 4 matches on this surface, his timing might be better today....

Loved that point when Djokovic went for Federer's BH and got outplayed.
Fed needs to be a little more aggressive with his inside out FH.
Cheap service game loss there.

What a shame...he let this set slip fast.Tenez wrote:Federer not moving too well..
With a few easy errors.
But I liked the aggressive play at the end of it.
Djokovic is very beatable tonight.

It's so relax for Djoko. He just has to hope that Fed does not pull a miraculous winner from his BH.

Two beautiful points from Fed just for 30:40.
And then a safe BH bludgeoning point from Djokovic for the game.
Even Andrew Castle is seeing the light....

It's a bit frustrating...a combination of Fed playing a bit below par and Djoko running everything down .

Re: ATP Tour Final - The Draw
The annoying thing in this match is all the cheap points Fed has given away.
I can ascribe it to nothing else but bad luck.
I really do hope Fed can wrestle out this set. Otherwise this match is a disaster.

Crowd being too sedated...but Fed just gives them a point to roar about.
They actually could make a difference in this game.

Fed would need his 27yo body and his 34yo experience and timing to beat Djoko consistently.

I look forward to watching him next year.Tenez wrote:Chung will sort Djoko out!
From what I've seen, he plays within himself, not ultra aggressive like Rubi, very able FH.

Re: ATP Tour Final - The Draw
he is not as quick in position as he usually can...
I am not saying he is injured.....just that he is tired. I said 4 days ago that he won't win another slam....he simply cannot line up matches anymore. His game is too reliant on great timing and therefore tiredness/stiffness is killing him.
