Finally back to winning ways and then this..
She "slipped and fell in the locker room and sustained a head injury," a tournament statement read.

Wow!
I saw the headline but thought she only wanted an excuse to pull out of doubles and focus on singles.

I don't know how these test results come but this is pretty abrupt.

Especially as she lost all muscle mass. She did play like a woman possessed against Cibi the other day...

Didn't she hire Connors as the adviser recently? Another silent ban/warning? 2355573927

Well if she had retired from every then yes it woudl be suspicious..but I think she is trying to save energy for her single now.

That's what I thought, but she's pulled out completely!

Not so long ago they were only blood testing after a loss and not during the slam so I doubt Bouchard was caught here...Never know though.

Still, very weird.

Though I don't like her as a character and find her style a bit monotonous, she played really well against Cibulkova (who I now really feel sorry for - missing out on a slam QF, she was in excellent form, too and after an injury).

Bouchard had a terrible year post 2014 Wimbledon final, so I thought she was going through a silent ban but a playing one.

She is a sponsor magnet and big for Canadian tennis, so they kept her "in".

She lost all the muscle she had last year, but actually kept hitting the ball even better without them against Cibi.

So maybe she's on EPOs now...

Or maybe she was perceived as a threat to Serena reaching her calendar slam (that's as far as my conspiracy brain takes me Run )

I never thought about her as a doper but the tone of her arms is certainly not your average womans arms compared to Radwanska or Halep. Plus the way she hunches her back forward to do a double fist pump is more like a WWE wrestler than a tennis player Laugh

Yes very bizarre....I think this is something that can happen. It's unfortunate and I doubt it has anything to do with doping.

On the other hand Bartoli in a recent interview said she did nothing to lose so much weight. It simply happened after stopping competition.

...Which reminded me Nadal 2009 year after winning the AO and being fitter than ever went on to lose at the FO (the only year the French anti-doping agency was allowed to blood testing during the FO)...and then we saw Nadal withdraw from WImbledon (not defend his title) and going into a weight loss spiral till year end, not winning a single set versus top 10 players .......Players were talking about Nadal having lost 14lb (of muscles) by WTF.

...until PRP blood transfusion was finally approved by anti-doping agencies. Then Nadal recovered his full potential and went on to have a great 2010!

That clearly was the most evident piece of silent ban.

The weird thing about her case is all the first round losses she had since the big 2014, remember she was a Wimbledon finalist?
On top of that she lost all her muscle mass, she almost had no neck at one stage.

Yes, accidents can happen, I just find it strange for an athlete to fall flat and hit the back of her head, wouldn't it be natural to catch yourself with your hands, or bottom before you hit the ground?

I have little doubt she was on something but I don;t believe silent bans would allow play and loss of first rounds. Look at Troiki today..his bad series ended. ..yet he may lose first round next week.

not if you are dizzy after a tough match. Doping like thick blood may make her dizzy, or a bad blood transfusion....for sure....and that may be why she bumped her head in the first place but I doubt she is going through a silent ban. Imagine if she was but at the same time we learn that the ATP and WTA are purposefully asking players to tank some matches....just can't see it. they would simply ask them to be injured. Much less trouble.

When you say thck blood, that sounds disturbing and sick.
How exactly can a body cope with it?
Isn't it dangerous?

I don't know how people can play with their bodies lime that...

This is just the beginning of it I think,

Unilke team sports like football etc, where a player can hide behind the tem, or in athletics where they don't compete every day of the yet almost like they do in tennis, the effects and dosage must be stronger and more prominent.

Women look really bad, all have huge shoulders, grunt etc...almost all falling to bits!

Bartoli was talking how much her body suffered during those years.

I am glad she won Wimbledon and then retired, always was great fun to watch.
Looks so much healthier and better now.

I can only imagine how tough it is to be at the top for a woman. I know they don't have to turn into beefcakes and dodgy "medicine",  but It's actually sad they are left with little choice...

They are all so young and must feel pressure not to let their families down. It's such a risky and expensive  sport.

The plot thickens:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/tennis/34536144

"'Ms. Bouchard entered the physiotherapy room of the women's locker room when she was caused to slip and fall by a slippery, foreign and dangerous substance on the floor.
Injuries were caused solely by the reason of carelessness, negligence, wanton and willful disregard on the part of Defendant USTA."

God save us from lawyers....

Maybe she is trying to have one back over the LTA.

Interesting, never thought of that one!
Will be emotionally exhausting for her of that's the case.

Not to mention the political USA-Canada tension....

reading the bbc article, it's not so crazy. It has certainly caused her trouble. Not very smart to lose balance and bump her head but I am pretty sure she did not do it on purpose so at least she has a case.
