Federer Fan Wakes Up After 11 Years Of Coma!

Post by noleisthebest on Tue Sep 22, 2015 9:57 am

A true story!

==================================

On December 12, 2004, Aparicio was celebrating his 18th birthday when he was critically injured in a car accident.

The ATP Top Ten, December 2004.
The Swiss tennis star, then 23, was the world no.1, having won three out of four grand slam events that season.

Aparicio told tennisworldusa.org of his astonishment at learning that for all the things that had changed, one constant remained.
"It came like a flash to my mind and I asked about Roger," Aparicio said.
"I thought he had retired. When I knew that at 34 years old, he is still playing and is number two the world, I thought they were kidding me.
"I could not believe it. When I heard that he reached 17 slam titles, I put my hands on my face.

"I knew Federer was very good but I never thought he could win all he has won."

Australia's Lleyton Hewitt is the only other player still competing who was in the top 10 at the time of the accident.
The Seville native, who was saving up for a trip to Wimbledon before the accident, hopes to see his hero in the flesh some day soon.
"I want to see his match before he retires, perhaps his 18th slam," Aparicio said.

What an incredible, amazing story!!!!!

Imagine if the guy actually saw Fed win his 18th slam live...is this the sign from God?

Just as I finished writing that other thread The Best Is Yet To Come! Winking

Woow nice story.

I would certainly like to have his view on how is tennis played nowadays. It helps tremendously to have have a "clean mind" when comparing 2 eras.

It's like we cannot see our children grow but when we compare them year in year out (let alone 10 years apart) the changes are obvious. In tennis it's of course a bit harder but it is when re-watching Federer playing Nadal in Wimby 2006 or 7 that it struck me how much both had progressed in 2010.

If you click on the link in the OP, you'll see the top 10 in 2004....it looks even more unreal.
Iphones and Ipads didn't exist back then!

Yes, would be great to hear him comment on current tennis. I bet he'd have his brain fried at the sight of Pirate Look Nadal.

Imagine if we had a chance to look at USO final 2026 now!!!

How old would Fed be then...? Run

In 2026 we will have guys the size of karlo or Isner outlasting and outpacing Djoko and the Djokos' like will be allowed to climb on the top of the stadium to retrieve balls.
